The full business programme for the 1st International Business Forum “World of Opportunities: Russia–ASEAN” has been published. It will take place on 26–27 November in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The Forum’s organizer is the Roscongress Foundation, under the Roscongress International brand, and its co-organizer is the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE). The general partner of the Forum is Tatarstan Trade House, with NOVATEK acting as a partner of the Forum. The business programme partners will be the Russia–ASEAN Business Council, the Eurasian Economic Commission and COALSTAR LLC. The Forum will be held with support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the Trade Mission of the Russian Federation in Malaysia.

The transformational processes taking place in the global economy could open up new opportunities for them. The World of Opportunities: Russia–ASEAN Business Forum is set to become an important platform for discussing and highlighting issues of strengthening trade and investment ties between Russia and the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in various sectors. Particular focus will be on issues of cooperation in the fields of economics and finance, energy, transport, technology and innovation, science and education, medicine and tourism,” noted Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.

The business programme’s central event will be the plenary session “Russia and ASEAN Countries: Towards a New Phase in Trade and Economic Cooperation”. It will touch on a wide range of current issues of trade and economic cooperation between Russia and ASEAN countries. The speakers at the plenary session will include Alexey Gruzdev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation; Alexander Stuglev, Chairman of the Board, CEO, RoscongressFoundation; Nazir Razak, founder, Ikhlas Capital, Chair, ASEAN Business Advisory Council, Malaysia Chapter; OudetSouvannovong, President, Lao Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chair, ASEAN Business Advisory Council; AyratKhairullin, Minister of Digital Development of Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Tatarstan; and Abu Bakar Yusof, Deputy Director, Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE). “It was exactly 20 years ago, in 2004, that Russia acceded to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, one of the fundamental documents in the Asia-Pacific Region. The high rates of growth of GDP, domestic demand and consumption in ASEAN countries remain among the key factors for the economic development of the entire region. To meet the growing demand, Russian business stands ready to expand the range of goods it delivers, including agricultural products, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, as well as ICT solutions,” Ivan Polyakov stressed.
The two-day forum’s business programme will also feature panel discussions on “The Energy Dimension of the Strategic Partnership between Russia and ASEAN Countries: Experience to Date and New Trends”, “Prospects for Cooperation between Russia and ASEAN Countries in the Field of Digital Transformation”, “Russia–ASEAN: Strategic Cooperation for Health and Safety”, “Increased Tourist Flows between Russia and ASEAN Countries: What Next?”, “Education as a Link between Russia and ASEAN Countries. How Can Universities and Alumni Associations Strengthen Business Ties?”, and the EAEU–ASEAN business dialogue.
The World of Opportunities: Russia-ASEAN International Business Forum is set to become a vital discussion platform for business and for earnest dialogue on methods and prospects for the continued development of trade, investment, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Russia and ASEAN countries.
