KEY CONCLUSIONS
Russia views Africa as priority in its foreign policy

The memory of struggling against colonialism, racism and apartheid is alive in Africa. Russia views the expansion of cooperation with African countries as one of the priorities of its foreign policy. We note the growing role of Africa in international affairs — Mikhail Bogdanov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation; Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa .

We are glad that Russia is returning to Africa, because your country has always played a big role in the anti-colonial struggle and in the education of the citizens of African countries — Faustin-Archange Touadéra, President of the Central African Republic.

SPIEF promotes intensification of economic relations between Russia and Africa

The Central African Republic can offer many profitable projects to investors from Russia. At business venues like the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, we can find reliable partners — Faustin-Archange Touadéra, President of the Central African Republic.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is an excellent event, which is very important for the Central African Republic. At the forum, meetings were held with various representatives of the business sphere in order to identify the role of government in this system and understand the difficulties that may arise. Our country can’t stand still, it needs reliable partners such as Russia — Faustin-Archange Touadéra, President of the Central African Republic.

ISSUES
Level of economic relations between Russia and Africa is low

Economic relations between Russia and Africa are insufficient. We need to develop them — Albert Muchanga, Commissioner for Trade and Industry, African Union Commission.

World economy develops without taking interests of African countries into account

Today we have the impression that the world economy does not develop in the interests of the African continent. World trade should assume our interests, and not consider us merely as a supplier of raw material — Faustin-Archange Touadéra, President of the Central African Republic.

SOLUTIONS
Investing in financial sector, agriculture in African countries, and other areas of mutually beneficial cooperation

We invested billions of dollars in Africa. It gets more money than Latin America and Asia — Charles Robertson, Global Chief Economist, Renaissance Capital .

The Russian Export Centre became one of the shareholders of Afreximbank. That is an important event in the financial sphere — Nataliya Zaiser, Chair of the Board, Africa Business Initiative UNION; Executive Secretary, Russian National Committee, World Energy Council (WEC).

Over the past decade, the share of the mining industry in Burkina Faso's GDP has grown up to 20%. Our company invested more than $2 billion in the region — Nikolai Zelenski, Chief Executive Officer, Nordgold.

In sub-Saharan Africa, hunger remains a problem. It is necessary to solve the problem of providing to the farmers. The second issue is the development of agricultural products industry in Africa — Dmitry Konyaev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors, URALCHEM JSC.

The Central African Republic has many opportunities in Russia, for example, in the areas of economy and education. The region is interested in Russian investors, and they need them greatly — Faustin-Archange Touadéra, President of the Central African Republic.

Developing links and contacts

I hope that we will live to see the day when we are able to organize a separate forum on relations between Russia and Africa. Such forum is extremely necessary — Boris Ivanov, Managing Director, GPB Global Resources .

Trust between Russia and Africa existed for a long time, and it still exists. It was built by students who studied in the Russian universities. But we want to reach a new level — George Elombi, Executive Vice President, African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank).
