The Roscongress Foundation is a socially oriented non-financial development institution and a major organizer of nationwide and international conventions; exhibitions; and business, public, youth, sporting, and cultural events. It was established in pursuance of a decision by the President of the Russian Federation.

The Foundation was established in 2007 with the aim of facilitating the development of Russia’s economic potential, promoting its national interests, and strengthening the country’s image. One of the roles of the Foundation is to comprehensively evaluate, analyse, and cover issues on the Russian and global economic agendas. It also offers administrative services, provides promotional support for business projects and attracting investment, helps foster social entrepreneurship and charitable initiatives.

Each year, the Foundation’s events draw participants from 209 countries and territories, with more than 15,000 media representatives working on-site at Roscongress’ various venues. The Foundation benefits from analytical and professional expertise provided by 5,000 people working in Russia and abroad.

The Foundation works alongside various UN departments and other international organizations, and is building multi-format cooperation with 212 economic partners, including industrialists’ and entrepreneurs’ unions, financial, trade, and business associations from 86 countries worldwide, and 293 Russian public organizations, federal and regional executive and legislative bodies of the Russian Federation.

Biography

Born January 19, 1963 in Kostroma. Graduated from N. A. Nekrasov Kostroma State University in History and Pedagogics. Member of the armed services 1986 and 1987. 1987–1998: secretary of the Kostroma VLKSM regional committee, editor of Molodoy Leninets, chairman of the committee for youth and the family of the Kostroma regional administration. Since November 1998: chairman of Kostroma State Television and Radio Broadcasting Corporation. 2002 and 2004: chairman of STRBC Yantar in Kaliningrad, chairman of Kostroma State Television and Radio Broadcasting Corporation. January 2005—July 2007: chairman of the Kostroma branch of STRBC. June 2007—July 2008: deputy chairman of the Federal Service for Supervision of Mass Media, Communications and Heritage Preservation. Since 2008: head of the Federal Supervisory Service for the Media and IT (Roskomnadzor). April 13, 2012: appointed interim Governor of the Kostroma Region. April 28, 2012: Kostroma regional Duma voted to confirm Mr. Sitnikov as the highest executive authority of the Kostroma Region for 5 years. May 15, 2015: appointed interim Governor of the Kostroma Region. September 13, 2015: elected Governor of the Kostroma Region. Holds the rank of Full State Counsellor of the Russian Federation, 2nd class.
