Sharing Principles, Uniting Minds. How Scientists Can Work Together?

Sirius University of Science and Technology, Science Hall
We all know that in the modern world the speed of change is such that major achievements require the combined efforts of lots of people and they are made together in cooperation. This not only ensures that the actual scientific and technological achievement is made, but that it is also done in a timely manner. There is still a competition in the scientific and technological race for breakthrough developments and discoveries. This competition is growing, since those who do it first acquire serious advantages in both economics and geopolitics. In business, effective teamwork is a prerequisite for success. In science, interaction between scientists accelerates the testing of hypotheses, improves the quality of data, and helps solve complex problems. After all, as the saying goes – one man does not make a team, which means that researchers, who are individualists by nature (even if this is their superpower), have to overcome themselves and look for ways to cooperate. For well-established scientists, the problem of cooperation and collaboration is about finding new ways to interact with each other, matching (correlating) the goals of each scientific group and their leaders, having the ability to critically communicate and a willingness for constructive dialogue, and encouraging communication in a situation where opinions can often clash. However, as practice shows, this is not always a simple proves and sometimes takes a long time. Together with experts from higher education and representatives of the business community, we will discuss at what point in the scientific process it is better to work separately and when scientists should work together? How can we move from competition to co-creation? What could become a driver for building horizontal communication? How can business and the state help scientific teams achieve success?
