YURTAEV Vladimir Ivanovich, D.Sc. (in History), Professor, Professor at the Department of Theory and History of International Relations of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University), Director of the Scientific and Educational Center for African Studies of RUND University.
In 1981 graduated with honors from the Institute of Asian and African Countries at Lomonosov Moscow State University; in 1981-1991 - Post-graduate student, researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies, USSR Academy of Sciences; in 1992-1994 - Head of the Department of Strategic Analysis of Foreign Economic Activity of the Organization of Foreign Economic Relations at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Deputy Head of the Office for Strategic Analysis of the Development of Foreign Economic Activities, Main Economic Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations of the Russian Federation, member of the Supervisory Board of “Diamonds of Russia-Sakha”; 1994-1998 - Head of the analytical center of the military-industrial complex "MAPO-MIG", head of the information center of the foreign trade company "Energy"; 1998-2000 - Vice-President of “Sokrat Agency”; 2005-2007 - Advisor to the President of United Aircraft Consortium.
Research interests: development strategies and resources of the SCO and BRICS countries, integration, transport and new diplomacy in Africa and Eurasia.
Yurtaev V.I. is the editor-in-chief of the RUDN Yearbook of the African Studies series (since 2009).
