I believe that the scientific community could play a key role [in carrying out the tasks needed for the energy transition] because the dialogue on how to count, what to count, and what to evaluate is still open today, and I would like to say that at SkolTech, at the university, we have already created a fairly large centre for the study of sustainable development, and its main focuses include, on the one hand, developing progressive methods in analytics related to resolving these tasks and problems and, on the other hand, developing specific technological solutions for the utilization, storage, and development of solutions for hydrogen energy

Today, we don’t have a unified methodology for assessing the negative contribution made by a particular enterprise in the manufacturing of relevant products. Russia is trying to do a lot, but without an effective dialogue between Russian and European business, particularly German [business] [...] I think it would be extremely difficult to reach decisions at the governmental levels […] So, the second issue, of course, is that it will cost money for each company and for each country. The energy transition will not be free of charge. These are new technologies, and this is the transformation of an entire economy or a significant part of it

Solutions that are still to be implemented need to be confirmed by contacts with the international scientific and research community. We have close contacts with our Italian colleagues. <…> For us, this partnership is critical. Because it is only through collaboration, through sharing knowledge and opinions, that students can achieve the required level to always be competitive in relation to advanced solutions

Electric cars are a whole new world, a huge transformation. There may also be cars that run on hydrogen. At least TotalEnergies is the concessionaire of these electric poles. We have also become a shareholder in a taxi company that plans to launch 650 taxis that will run on hydrogen. There is an example in Moscow, too: electric battery technology in the Moscow metro

We are investing a lot, for example, in Yamal, in the production of liquefied natural gas. There are huge deposits there. <...> Russia has an enormous potential. For TotalEnergies Russia is very important

High-Tech Business: Identifying What Is Needed to Achieve Fast Growth
One of the most painful problems is going from an innovative model or a model solution to its practical use and transforming it into a large business

Russian-Chinese partnership is a very important element for both the current situation and the future. Today, the world is in a very complex turbulent state. We are witnessing trade wars and instability, so it is very important that the Russian-Chinese long-term relations are constructive and stable

The Skolkovo Foundation annually holds an event called Start-up Village. It brings together startups from all over the country and invites foreign partners. Last year, we had a fairly large delegation of our Italian colleagues, who brought around 15 startups to our country. We were delighted to host this delegation because it was, to some extent, a seal of excellence. <...> This year, the Italian delegation became our general partner of the event. We already met about 30 Italian innovation companies from different regions. <...> It seems that the potential for our cooperation in the field of innovation is enormous

Shaping the Industry of the Future. Digital Technology in Manufacturing
You need to have access to the work data of the equipment you want to operate and predict how it is going to behave. Today, the industrial internet is largely restricted in the rights for access to this data

Looking at life from the traditional stripes model, I’d say that the black stripes are much brighter. What seemed as a nightmare turned out to be not so nightmarish. The white stripes are gone—that is the reality. The situation today is like the Okudzhava’s song: ‘Few of us are left, us and our pain’

Digitalization - an Engine for Growth and Inclusive Development
We are seeing a situation where business is looking at the opinions and atmosphere taking shape in the world of politics, and it seems, to a large extent, that it is consequently falling behind in its very important, leading role in solving the biggest challenges facing the world
