The Roscongress Foundation – a socially oriented non-financial development institution and a major organizer of international conventions; exhibitions; and sporting, public, and cultural events.

The Foundation was established in 2007 with the aim of facilitating the development of Russia’s economic potential, promoting its national interests, and strengthening the country’s image. One of the roles of the Foundation is to comprehensively evaluate, analyse, and cover issues on the Russian and global economic agendas. It also offers administrative services, provides promotional support for business projects and attracting investment, and helps foster social entrepreneurship and charitable initiatives.

Each year, the Foundation’s events draw participants from 208 countries and territories, with more than 15,000 media representatives working on-site at Roscongress’ various venues. The Foundation benefits from analytical and professional expertise provided by 5000 people working in Russia and abroad. In addition, it works in close cooperation with 126 economic partners; industrialists’ and entrepreneurs’ unions; and financial, trade, and business associations from 69 countries worldwide.

Biography
Elena Vartanova is Dean and Chair in Media Theory and Economics at the Faculty of Journalism, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Full Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Education. Her research focuses on Russian media system, media economics, media theory, and journalism in Russia. Dr. Vartanova has published more than 200 research articles and 10 academic monographs, including Post-Soviet Transformations of Russian Mass Media and Journalism (2014). Recently she also contributed chapters to Comparing Media Systems Beyond the Western World, edited by D. C. Hallin & P. Mancini (2012), and Mapping BRICS Media, edited by K. Nordenstreng & D. K. Thussu (2015). She is a president of the National Association for Media Researchers (NAMMI) Dr. Vartanova is also the editor of several academic journals: Medi@lmanac, MediaScope, and MediaTrends. Member of the Presidential Council on the Russian Language. Secretary of the Russian Union of Journalists. Member of different international organizations: ICA, IAMCR, ECREA, EMMA, IMMA, Euromedia Research Group.
