Tobias Josef Zech is a German politician of the Christian Social Union (CSU). He is a member of the German Bundestag since 2013, where he is in the Committee on Labour and Social Affairs and the Committee on Economic Cooperation. He is member of the German-Russian and the German-Central Asian Parliamentary Group in the German Bundestag.
Since 2002 he is a member of the Garching Municipal Council in Bavaria and in 2013 he was also elected as a member of the District Assembly of Alt?tting.
He is district chairman of Christian Social Unions youth party (Junge Union) in Upper Bavaria, the largest youth party district group in Germany.
After having graduated high school, Zech enlisted in the German Army (Bundeswehr), where he served for eight years while simultaneously pursuing a degree in economics.
Since 2014 he is a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). He is vice-chairman of the Group of the European Peoples Party/Christian Democrats at PACE since 2016. There he is a rapporteur on «Promoting the inclusion of Roma and Travellers» of the Committee on Equality and Non-discrimination, and a rapporteur on «The situation in Lebanon and challenges for regional stability and European security» of the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy.
