Multi-Track Diplomacy: The Role of New and Old Tools of Diplomacy in Promoting Russia’s National Interests
A great many foreign students study at these universities in Asia, [including in – ed.] China and India. <...> And this is also a form of diplomacy – educational diplomacy. That’s because the people who come are those who in a decade or two will be leaders in their fields. And it won’t be restricted to individual fields, either. These people will also work in the government. Of course, we consider this to be crucial. At the same time, we must not lose what we have accumulated in previous years, including as a result of collaborating under the so-called Bologna System. We must preserve the positive things which were developed, and work actively with the educational organizations we collaborated with previously. But perhaps it won’t be to the same extent

Multi-Track Diplomacy: The Role of New and Old Tools of Diplomacy in Promoting Russia’s National Interests
Perhaps they really did once traverse a well-trodden path. It was convenient, and there was the proximity at least, in terms of logistics, exchanges, etc. However, now we need to take a broader view of the world and see that we have a range of fantastic partners, both potential and current. There are a great many of them. And we can expand our cooperation with them

Internationalization of Russian Higher Education in the Current Conditions
There are quite a few – I know there are quite a few at Vyshka, and from other colleagues – professors and lecturers from unfriendly foreign countries who want to work and work well. And we are interested in working with them

Internationalization of Russian Higher Education in the Current Conditions
European students didn’t want to leave. I had an Italian girl in my office crying that she didn’t want to leave, but that she was being forced to... Some of them decided to just stay. By the way, 60% of the kids who were encouraged to leave after the SWO started didn’t and will be receiving their diplomas soon. So, I think the outlook is good. We just need to work on it and look at the whole story in a different way

Internationalization of Russian Higher Education in the Current Conditions
It is a global standard for universities to be international by nature. And regardless of what may happen geopolitically or as a result of changes taking place internationally, we need to adhere to this standard and, where necessary, look for new partners and seek out new methods of communication with our colleagues abroad. I would not like to be overly dramatic about the situation we are facing with international cooperation

Trianon Dialogue Providing Education of the Future
The most promising line of work is creating mutual education programmes <…> that would allow the applicants obtain either a Master’s degree <…> or a PhD. Quite a lot has been done with Master’s, but PhD are still a problem from a legal standpoint. 21 universities in Russia do not have the right to award either Master’s or PhD without Higher Attestation Commission <…> while it is them who need to pioneer the promotion of double post-graduate programme

Trianon Dialogue Providing Education of the Future
During the past years we have reached a lot in the interuniversity cooperation. 10–15 years ago, we had only a few projects with French universities. Today, it is nearly every year we have new master’s programmes appearing and it is happening on the level of regional universities of France and Russia

Our educational institutions, primarily universities, are implementing a huge number of joint programmes. We have French, German, and Austrian graduates of Russian institutions, as well as Russians who have studied abroad. <...> We need to do more to bring these graduates together

Trialogue of Dialogues: St. Petersburg, Sochi, and Trianon
When setting targets, our dialogues are primarily focused on objectives related to communication between people – personal communication – and helping as many people as possible in our countries to become involved in this process. They aim to involve them not on a bureaucratic level, but on the level of the heart. They aim to bring them together according to professional interests and plans

The government has a plan that is associated with the construction of waste incineration and other plants. But the people of towns near Moscow do not want these facilities to be built near these towns, because they believe that they will cause damage and, of course, today the authorities are trying to prove that this is not the case, and show films <...> But the citizen of towns of Moscow area still go protesting
