In 2002, Aleksandr Sokolov graduated from the Russian State Technological University named after K.E. Tsiolkovsky (MATI) majoring in Economics and Company Management.
In 2008, he was invited by Mikhail Zadornov to head the Risk Analysis Department of Bank VTB24. In July 2009, he became a Board Member supervising three departments of the bank: the Risk Analysis Department, the Underwriting and Credit Risk Control Department and the Toxic Assets Department. In December 2017, together with Mikhail Zadornov’s team, he moved to Otkritie Bank to head the Risks Section. In July 2018, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation approved Aleksandr Sokolov for a position of the President-Chairman of the Management Board of the Bank TRUST (PJSC), which became a basis for the Bank of Non-Core Assets established by the Bank of Russia. As the President-Chairman of the Management Board, he is responsible for strategic and daily management as well as for supervising the management of the subsidiary companies within the Bank of Non-Core Assets, including the leaders in the national key industries. Aleksandr Sokolov also holds a position of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of INTECO, Joint-Stock Company, PJSC RPC UWC and PJSC GEOTECH Seismic Services, and is a member of the Supervisory Board of VTB Bank.
