The Cities Where Russia Begins
For [residents of countries of the – Ed.] Asia-Pacific region, we are the nearest Europe. We have a strong, weighty resource that we must develop further, which is the architecture of the historical centre

The Cities Where Russia Begins
The overwhelming majority of Vladivostok residents voted for two projects. The first one is the Vladivostok Ring Road as an important fundamental project in our municipality, the second one is the light metro. The essence of our proposal lies in the implementation of this project. It will allow you to move from point A to point B in a fixed time, regardless of traffic jams traditional for Vladivostok, or natural disasters

The Cities Where Russia Begins
We will have an embankment along the Amur Bay, we will have at least 10 municipal or commercial quality beaches that will meet modern requirements, which will decorate the city of Vladivostok. A city by the sea, but without the sea is definitely not our way

The Cities Where Russia Begins
In 2030, I see Vladivostok as a real federal centre, one of the federal centres of this country in the Far East, but this, in my opinion, is too small [is not the ultimate goal – Ed.]. This is an intermediate result of the work. <...> We are surrounded by "Asian tigers" – large cities, large countries with established economies. I am convinced that Vladivostok, thanks to the implementation, first of all, of projects in the economy and, of course, projects aimed at the development of our city, will become the next or new "Asian tiger", a global city

New Life for Far Eastern Cities: Development Strategies
A city by the sea must have a beautiful sea façade. <...> We are already creating the embankment that will run through our entire city along the coast of the Amur Bay. By creating such an embankment, we additionally capitalize those land plots on which complex construction is possible. <...> We must talk about ecology. In the centre of our city there is a botanical garden, which belongs to the Far East Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is a wonderful park, but it has not seen any investments for forty years

New Life for Far Eastern Cities: Development Strategies
We all need a quality environment, we need a new look for cities. All this must be based on a strong economy. There are no other options. But there are nuances: if we are talking about Vladivostok as the most motorized city [of the Far East. – Ed.], there should be extra projects that can change the approach to the development of the city. Then we are talking about light metro, and light metro will provide an opportunity to involve new land plots, increase their investment attractiveness

Schools of the Future. Where, How and What Will We Teach Our Children?
I wanted to talk about a small victory, which is still a victory that can be assigned to Vladivostok, it consists of several key positions. Firstly, the government of Primorye Territory initiated a project to create rental housing, and one of the positions is apartments for young teachers. <...> The average rent for a one-room apartment in Vladivostok is from 26,000 to 32,000 roubles. A 54 sq. m one-room apartment costs a teacher (whom I handed over the keys to recently) 13,900 roubles a month, including utility bills. <...> There is another direction – these are hostels. We had a temporary accommodation centre that belonged to the municipality, and we decided that it is now more important for us to attract teachers from outside, including from other regions. I would like to emphasize that we look extremely competitive in the central part of Russia, and we have an example: about 14 young people came to us to become young teachers on our territory

Pivot East 3.0: The Asian Vector in the Economy
Those who have not acknowledged that the whole country has made the pivot East risk losing a significant market. <…> Now is the time for the unique opportunity to turn eastward. There has been a drastic change in demand for the region’s infrastructure <…>, as well as the approach to this infrastructure its shareholders and owners demonstrate. Over the past four months, they all have approved their major investment plans

Small Businesses in the Urban Economy of the Far East
We have created 100 new places for selling farm produce. Together with businesses, we are creating projects for modern commercial areas. Everybody was looking for clear and predictable conditions for their work with the government. We have suggested it, so the city’s key transport areas will have markets and modern commercial areas

Small Businesses in the Urban Economy of the Far East
Cities is where small businesses develop. We can talk about developing farms and traditional crafts as much as we want. They are important, however there are more small businesses in big cities. Over 40 thousand entrepreneurs out of over 300 thousand registered in the Far East are based in Vladivostok. The first steps our team is taking target two areas – ensuring comfortable living conditions and a good environment for small business through an adequate demand and dialogue with the government
