The Foundation was established in 2007 with the aim of facilitating the development of Russia’s economic potential, promoting its national interests, and strengthening the country’s image. One of the roles of the Foundation is to comprehensively evaluate, analyse, and cover issues on the Russian and global economic agendas. It also offers administrative services, provides promotional support for business projects and attracting investment, and helps foster social entrepreneurship and charitable initiatives.

Each year, the Foundation’s events draw participants from 208 countries and territories, with more than 15,000 media representatives working on-site at Roscongress’ various venues. The Foundation benefits from analytical and professional expertise provided by 5000 people working in Russia and abroad. In addition, it works in close cooperation with 130 economic partners; industrialists’ and entrepreneurs’ unions; and financial, trade, and business associations from 70 countries worldwide.

Biography
Sasha (Aleksandr) Shapiro is a Managing Director of Media Content Capital, a private equity fund focused on investments into Media and Entertainment companies. Shapiro has over 26 years’ experience in the media industry.

For 14 years, he worked in various executive positions at Warner Bros. studios. He was senior executive in charge of strategic business development at WB Cinema Division. He managed global deals and market entries into Egypt, China, Russia, Vietnam, etc.

After leaving WB Shapiro worked as Executive Vice President at Culver Studios, one of the oldest film/TV studios in Hollywood.

Thereafter Shapiro consulted for many world-renowned companies like Gazprom Media, Imax, RealD, RT, Lenfilm, etc.

He is a producer of films FURY, SABOTAGE, FADING GIGOLO, DIRTY GRANDPA, ROCK THE KASBAH, NAKED and OPHELIA. These films grossed over USD 500 million.

Shapiro sits on the Board of Directors of Sonifi Solutions, QED International, Covert Media and VR MediaTech.

Shapiro holds a Ph.D. from Moscow Aviation Technology University and MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA, California.
