The Roscongress Foundation is a socially oriented non-financial development institution and a major organizer of international conventions; exhibitions; and business, public, sporting, and cultural events. It was established in pursuance of a decision by the President of the Russian Federation.

The Foundation was established in 2007 with the aim of facilitating the development of Russia’s economic potential, promoting its national interests, and strengthening the country’s image. One of the roles of the Foundation is to comprehensively evaluate, analyse, and cover issues on the Russian and global economic agendas. It also offers administrative services, provides promotional support for business projects and attracting investment, and helps foster social entrepreneurship and charitable initiatives.

Each year, the Foundation’s events draw participants from 208 countries and territories, with more than 15,000 media representatives working on-site at Roscongress’ various venues. The Foundation benefits from analytical and professional expertise provided by 5000 people working in Russia and abroad. In addition, it works in close cooperation with 160 economic partners; industrialists’ and entrepreneurs’ unions; and financial, trade, and business associations from 75 countries worldwide.

Koji Murofushi, Ph.D. (Biomechanics)

Born in 1974 in Shizuoka prefecture

Koji Murofushi competed at the Olympic Games in 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012 in succession as a hammer thrower.

He was awarded the gold medal at the Athens 2004 Games and the bronze medal at the London 2012 Games.

He also won the gold medal at the IAAF World Championships in 2011 at the age of 36. He became the first Japanese athlete to win gold medals at both the World Championships and the Olympic Games.

In 2014, he won an unprecedented 20th consecutive Japanese title at the Japan National Championships in Athletics.

He took his leave of professional athletic career in 2016. His personal best throw is 84.86m.

With respect to his academic career, he received Ph.D. in Biomechanics in2008. His professional interests focus on the prevention of athletes’ injuries and the improvement in individual performance from the aspect of integration of sport science and sport medicine.

At present, he is playing his active role as Sport Director in the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo2020).
