BRICS+: Potential for Technology Partnerships
In terms of increasing engagement, a good example is the BRICS platform, which is doing research [BRICS Energy Research Platform, – Ed.]. These studies are very relevant. They should be used. They reflect the joint position within the framework of our interaction on the issues of technological development. And today the assurance of our countries’ energy security depends, among other things, on the access to advanced energy technologies. We see a prospect of introducing technologies for carbon dioxide capture, burial, and use. Implementation of this mechanism will reduce the carbon footprint of conventional energy. The potential of coal has not been fully exploited in this part. Also, hydrogen is still relevant, but we need to determine how far into the future it is

BRICS+: Potential for Technology Partnerships
BRICS is one of the promising venues, based on the economic opportunities we can provide to each other. One of the main challenges is to ensure a reliable and affordable energy supply for all people on the planet. The symbiosis of basic fuels with the technologies that we need to jointly develop, implement, and make them green. Renewables that give us zero emissions, is what we need to strive for

Exchangization of the Fuel and Energy Sector – New Challenges – New Indicators
The development of exchange trading is a transparent tool, the purity of which is difficult to refute. Such a mechanism counteracts manipulation of price data. We believe that the exchange mechanism, including the organization of coal trading on the exchange, will have an extremely positive effect. OTC transactions have been registered for several years and we see that this model is more representative in terms of creating national indicators of the fuel and energy sector

Recalibrating Logistics for Coal Exports Under Sanctions Pressure
Russian coal is traded at a discount, which prevents it from reaching the sales regions we need most economically. Because of the pressure, we have received restrictions on our ability to charter. <...> Restrictions have been imposed on making our ships available for Russian goods, including coal. These restrictions have led to an increase in freight for Russian coal

Recalibrating Logistics for Coal Exports Under Sanctions Pressure
The load of the Eastern Polygon, as we understand it, has become prohibitive. <...> The most important for us and the key parameter is to unconditionally meet the deadlines for commissioning [such as BAM-1 and BAM-2] facilities. This is another project that continues the expansion of backbone infrastructure

Recalibrating Logistics for Coal Exports Under Sanctions Pressure
I believe it will take us 2023 to finally form new logistics corridors and partners. <...> We have agreements with the Indian Republic on coal supplies, there are developments with the People’s Republic of China... our coal is in demand. Most likely, in 2023 we will not reach the parameters that we had in 2022, but from 2024 and for the next 5 years... we will steadily increase, and all those opportunities that logistics constraints will give us will be filled with coal by 100%

Russian coal production increased by 15.5 percent to 410 million tonnes from 2012 to 2017. This year, we will surpass the milestone of 420 million tonnes and exceed the maximum level of Soviet-era production that was reached in 1988
