Richard John Micklethwait was born 11 August 1962 in London. After graduating Magdalen College, Oxford, he worked in Chase Manhattan for two years. In 1987 Mr. Micklethwait joined The Economist, where he headed the New York bureau and set up the publications offices in Los Angeles. In 2006 he was named the 16th Editor of the Economist. In February 2015 Mr. Micklethwait became Editor-in-Chief of Bloomberg News where he supervised the launch of Bloomberg Digital in May 2018. Took part in the 2010 meeting of the Bilderberg conference. Co-authored a number of publications with Adrian Wooldridge, Bagehot columnist for the Economist.
