Tim Murphy is General Counsel and Сhief Franchise Officer for Mastercard Incorporated (Masterсard). In this capacity, he is responsible for overseeing legal affairs, public policy, corporate security and privacy, global inclusion and the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth Tim is a member of the company’s Management Committee.Prior to assuming this role, Mr. Murphy was chief product officer, where he was responsible for the management, development and commercialization of payments solutions, creating sustainable competitive advantage for Mastercard and its customers.Throughout his tenure, Tim also has served as president of the company’s U.S. region, executive vice president of customer business planning and analysis, and senior vice president and associate general counsel for Mastercard. Before joining MasterCard in 2000, Mr. Murphy was an associate in the New York and London offices of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, an international law firm. Tim is a member of the board of trustees for the National Urban League, the board of directors for the U.S.-Russia Business Council and the board of directors for the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship. Tim also serves as chairman of the board of governors for Fairfield College Preparatory School. Mr. Murphy graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School and magna cum laude from Amherst College. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa at Amherst and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the National Urban League.
