The Impact of the Natural Gas Engine on the Economy and Climate
In Germany the potential for using gas in public transportation is huge, but we have a lot of electric car fans. We even subsidize electric cars, which is kind of ironic. You tell people that they make an eco-friendly choice by buying an electric car. But this car runs on electricity produced from coal. <…> The cost of an electric bus is at least 60% higher than that of a regular bus, and the cost of a gas bus is just 2–3% higher [than a regular one]

A New Europe: What Is Russia to Expect?
We want to see a structured way out of sanctions. Fifty per cent of our business at Wintershall Dea is in Russia or linked to Russia. We are not directly impacted by the sanctions, but of course we see that sanctions are a permanent discussion. Rather than talking business, you talk about legal stuff

A New Europe: What Is Russia to Expect?
The energy partnership is extremely important. We have decades of great cooperation between Europe and Russia in terms of energy partnership, and that is something that needs to be revived. <...> I have mentioned why in Europe we need gas from Russia – it is competitive, it has a good price, we want to change our climate policy, we want to phase out coal, we want to be competitive, so we need that pipeline [Nord Stream 2, – Ed.]

Gas as an Effective Tool for Achieving the Environmental Targets of the Global Economy
You do not improve the environment when you focus on renewable energy sources alone. You must get rid of the coal, and only then you will succeed

Gas as an Effective Tool for Achieving the Environmental Targets of the Global Economy
The Paris Agreement stipulates for more gas, not less, because only with more gas we can realistically cut emissions

Gas as an Effective Tool for Achieving the Environmental Targets of the Global Economy
It would be reasonable to stop campaigning against or for certain sources of gas. Gas is neither good nor bad. Today in Europe there is an impression that Russian gas is bad, and the US liquefied gas is good. This is kind of an odd discussion

Gas as an Effective Tool for Achieving the Environmental Targets of the Global Economy
Politicians realized that if they really want to improve their environmental situation, they should bet on gas, because it is there, it is available, and they can utilize ready to use technologies to solve all issues and problems
