ESG in Manufacturing: Why Solving Global Problems Requires International Best Practice
We're seeing that it's very important to develop technologies in producing green or blue hydrogen using power generation based on renewable sources of energy. Using hydrogen in these processes allows us to address the issue of using CO2 for producing goods and materials that humans need. Taking into account that the oil and gas industry can serve as a source of hydrogen and the petrochemical industry can serve as consumers, this intra-industry connection is very important

ESG in Manufacturing: Why Solving Global Problems Requires International Best Practice
Scientists have shown that climate change is occurring rather intensely, at a pace that exceeds what was predicted 5 to 10 years ago. Subjectively speaking, it seemed like discussions at the World Economic Forum concerning the climate agenda increased about five-fold. Accordingly, global goals have to become more ambitious, including on the corporate level

Long-Term and Affordable Capital for Investments: New Fundraising Opportunities
What VEB is doing at the moment through its Project Finance Factory is very interesting. It is a tool which is developing at a rapid pace. That said, I would like to note that financing is currently available only in roubles. <...> The second area where it seems to me, we could improve somewhat is developing financing for projects which are implemented or could be implemented in the future by Russian <...> engineering companies. In this instance, I am referring to state guarantees provided by various development institutions, such as the REC, EXIAR, and VEB.RF

In addition, current Central Bank regulation does not make provide for preferential capital conservation rules for loans covered by EXIAR. Correspondingly, this financing will, a priori, be rather more expensive

Long-Term and Affordable Capital for Investments: New Fundraising Opportunities
One final remark <...> regarding the insurance coverage provided by EXIAR [the Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance, – Ed.] for projects in the country – it is an important, necessary, and incredibly beneficial tool; however, it is limited exclusively to export-based projects. And the availability of insurance unfortunately does not reduce the cost of financing for the owner of the project, because regardless, it is Russian funding

We will also develop in the east of our country. <...> By investing in Siberia and the Far East, SIBUR <...> will, I truly hope, be able to build highly competitive, highly profitable manufacturing facilities which take advantage of Russia’s raw resources and hydrocarbons

Circular Economy: The Russian Model and Foreign Experience
Plastic leaves the biggest carbon footprint compared to other materials. But in terms of energy consumption in production, plastic needs eight times less energy in comparison with aluminium cans. One ton of plastic takes 40 times less CO2 emissions to produce than aluminium. Plastic is used for thermal regulation and insulation, which allows us, as consumers, to spend less energy. Plastic materials are lighter, that’s why it is used in the transport industry helping to save fuel. Plastic helps keep food and reduce the amount of debris. Packaging helps extend life for meat by 5–7 days. Almost 100% plastic can be recycle. The difficult part is separate waste collection

Circular Economy: The Russian Model and Foreign Experience
