Ecology: How to Save the Planet in a World Without Trust?
As the situation has changed, we have seen an awful lot of new ideologemes appear along the lines of ‘We need to do away with the environment aspect’, or ‘Lower the requirements.’ In some places, you hear that the whole thing is fake news. And did you know that they even called it that in the media?

Ecology: How to Save the Planet in a World Without Trust?
Do you remember the axiom, ‘We are all children of nature’? Well, it’s true! So, has something changed? We have, I’d say, become managers of nature, and nature has become our stepmother. And when we shift roles again, and go back to how things were, we will probably accomplish the things we want. That’s because the fear of an environmental disaster is a fairly big factor, but it is short-lived. Some kind of other programme is needed

Indigenous Lives: Preserving Traditions, Developing the Economy and Improving the Standard of Living
Norilsk Nickel has reviewed a great many practices in the wake of the biggest diesel spill in the history of the Arctic. We remembered the prophesy of the Cree people of North America: when the last tree is cut down and the last stream poisoned, the last fish caught, you will realize that you cannot eat money

Indigenous Lives: Preserving Traditions, Developing the Economy and Improving the Standard of Living
The birth rate is increasing, thanks in part to support provided by the Presidential Administration, the Russian Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs, and our senators. As a result, we may stop considering indigenous peoples to be small-numbered. Perhaps we will consider them to be large in number

Territories of Advanced Development in the Far East: Topical Issues of Improving Legislation
I would like to highlight regional investment projects. Put simply, businesses are offered tax incentives during the implementation period, and with the money they save they invest in production. Production is expanded, as is the tax base. It’s a win for businesses, and it is a win for the state in the long term. We have seen this in Krasnoyarsk Territory and Murmansk Region... This mechanism is officially in place until 2028. We propose extending it to 2050

Territories of Advanced Development in the Far East: Topical Issues of Improving Legislation
Construction has begun on plenty of things at the ASEZ. Essentially, this incentive – the reduced insurance contribution rate – applies from the moment a company obtains the status of resident. However, we don’t actually need this reduced rate. It’s only required from the moment our facility is commissioned... We build the facility over the course of five years, and this reduced rate [is in place – ed.] for five years. What for? The time we need it is from the moment the facility is commissioned, and then it could indeed be in place for five years

How to Achieve Carbon Neutrality in the Arctic
Norilsk Nickel has adopted an environmental and climate change strategy. This is a serious programme, with a total budget of RUB 686 billion. <...> We also have a so-called sulphur programme in active development, which will enable us to reduce emissions in the Norilsk industrial district by 95% by 2025 compared to 2015. The total investment in our sulphur programme will amount to RUB 250 billion

How to Achieve Carbon Neutrality in the Arctic
There is this paradox: the main contribution to global warming, as we know, is made by three countries, the US, China and India, while in the Russian Arctic, due to rising temperatures, perennially frozen ground is melting and gas such as methane is being released. And in this situation, Russia's national carbon footprint could grow at the expense of the Arctic. It turns out that some people are melted down, while others have to pay the carbon tax

How to Achieve Carbon Neutrality in the Arctic
Of course, green energy issues cannot do without scientific support. And, of course, to assess the impact of anthropogenic impact, we need to involve the scientific community, the best scientific forces of the country

The Development of Specially Protected National Areas and the Role of CSR in Ensuring Sustainable Development and Preserving the Unique Nature of the Far East
We understand that it is also very difficult for nature reserves to survive without business support now, as there is no income. ... We are ready to participate in all activities that the state will offer because this is one of the programme areas

Challenges and Opportunities in the Next Round of Development in the Arctic
Changes to the image of the city of Norilsk […] are promising areas [...] The overall renovation programme envisages expenses of RUB 120 billion, of which 70% will be paid by the company. This is an unprecedented case when a socially responsible company […] is paying out such a large sum […] In addition, the company […] will conclude an agreement separately with the city for [RUB] 150 billion, which will radically change the city’s appearance

Is the New Normal a Temporary or Permanent Phenomenon?
We need to prepare anyway. Do you remember V. Chernomyrdin’s expression: ‘It never happened, and here we go again’? <...> We already have experience, a legal framework, regulatory documents, experience of interaction – in fact, we do have a toolkit to meet this challenge. I think we should stick to a balanced, practical approach, as opposed to panic and rejection

Is the New Normal a Temporary or Permanent Phenomenon?
Digitalization is a unique source of compensatory measures for maintaining the effectiveness of business projects and business processes in general. The companies where digitalization is a reality rather than a trend have easily accepted new market conditions and adapted to them

Is the New Normal a Temporary or Permanent Phenomenon?
Is it temporary or permanent? It has come for at least quite a while, but maybe forever. But I think that we should not be afraid of this new normal. The corporate sector will become more socially responsible, more flexible, and more digital after the pandemic. <...> COVID-19 concerns us all. State, business and society need to join efforts to fight it
