Victoria Elias, PhD, Programme Director of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Russia. She is responsible for WWF-Russia Conservation Strategy development and implementation, coordinates WWF Russia work in the Arctic and line manages programmes on Biodiversity conservation including rare species and protected areas, Sustainable Marine Fishery, Climate and Energy, Amur Branch and regional programmes in Barents, Kamchatka/Bering Sea, Russian Caucasus and Altay-Sayan. Prior to joining WWF Russia in 2007, Victoria was a Chair of the European ECO-Forum – Pan-European environmental NGO Coalition. Dr. Elias has broad experience on environmental and sustainable development issues at national and international level, including involvement in strategic policy processes and research, as well as chairing Pan-European Biodiversity Platform on behalf Russia. In 2015-2018 Dr. Elias served as a Coordinating Lead Author for the Regional Assessment for Europe and Central Asia of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services - IPBES.
