Travelling to the East: Opportunities for Investors and Tourists
By order of Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, a federal tourist inter-regional territorial spatial planning scheme called "Far East" is being worked on in a priority mode. It includes the Far East – Kamchatka Territory, Sakhalin Region, and Primorye Territory in the first place. As a result of this work, proposals for urban planning documentation will be formed this year. Rostourism together with VEB.RF is currently wrapping it up. Twelve resorts will be created, including development concepts and economic models, which will allow to quickly prioritize the efforts to support these projects and attract investors

Travelling to the East: Opportunities for Investors and Tourists
We are now witnessing a huge unsatisfied demand, which must be met immediately. Russian President Vladimir Putin points this out to us, he says that we need to create the infrastructure as soon as possible, because tourism activities create a huge multiplier effect

Travelling to the East: Opportunities for Investors and Tourists
If in 2020, our funding for tourism was about 11 billion, this year we allocated more than 75 billion, and these figures will keep on growing. From next year to 2030 direct budget investment alone are expected to reach 462 billion roubles

Travelling to the East: Opportunities for Investors and Tourists
We predict that by 2030 the number of trips per year in our country will exceed 140 million. Now it is 60 million people. <...> The potential for tourism development is huge, so I propose to replace the “renaissance” [of Russian tourism Development – Ed.] with the “future Klondike”. I suggest we help investors to carry out their activities, to remove red tape, to make project management transparent, to help make the recuperation rate faster. These are tasks for federal executive authorities and, of course, for authorities on the ground

Russian East 2.0. Regional Drivers of Digital Development in the New Reality
We know that the estimated shortage of IT specialists in the country is around 1 million specialists. Of course, we are now doing our best to train... specialists in the IT industry. <...> Undoubtedly, universities in Far Eastern and Siberian regions, which are at the top of the world rankings for education quality, have authored very important digital projects and are a very serious forge of personnel for us. At the same time, we understand that despite the high level of education, IT specialists migrate to other regions or countries, which is a problem

Sports in the Far East: Creating New Opportunities
First of all, this [the Eastern Economic Forum – ed.] is a platform for building ties with our partners. There are a number of friendly countries with whom we are restarting relations. I’m speaking about countries in the SCO, BRICS, and the CIS. We hold joint events with them. Chess is one good example in terms of organization. An alliance has been built not under the auspices of FIDE [the International Chess Federation – ed.], but through an alternative [organization – ed.] which was set up

Sports in the Far East: Creating New Opportunities
We are continuing to implement a plan covering physical culture and sport. This is so that despite all the sanctions and restrictions, the competitive process continues to run as planned, thereby enabling athletes to demonstrate their prowess. On the eve of the Eastern Economic Forum, Vladivostok hosted its first SUP tournament. More than 200 athletes from eight countries [took part – ed.]. This attests to the excellent potential of the Far East

Sport Without Borders: New Scenarios and Formats
We are urgently creating these camps here, in Russia. At the same time, we are further improving our existing camps in Novogorsk, the Krasnodar Territory. We need camps in different climatic zones. The most important thing is that business is involved in this process, because it sees interest and a payback horizon

Technological sovereignty dictates that we must possess these technologies, be able to produce them in Russia, and of course, we should be guided by the principles of expediency. No one says that we should close everything on ourselves, because this is the path to degradation. <...> We cannot remain isolated. The Russian market for sports equipment and sports technologies is not enough to pay for [production. – Ed.]. We will definitely need to find ways to enter the foreign market with our goods. Sports export in every sense is a trend as well

Ninety percent of dependence on imported equipment in our country is a terrifying figure. <...> We analyzed more than 500 different items that were imported according to the commodity list of foreign economic activity in past years. Import has stopped now. We want to phase out imports as soon as possible

We have an intermediate victory in restoring the rights of our bobsleigh federation. This is very good news. We need to work with lawyers, we need to work with our international colleagues to resolve this issue. Nothing can be done here without the support of the Ministry of Sport

Sport Without Borders: New Scenarios and Formats
While we are strengthening the sovereignty of national sports, we need to be open to friendly countries. We need new formats of cooperation. <...> This is Asia, the whole East, Africa, the SCO, BRICS, our good friends from the CIS. A large number of competitions are planned. Even this year there will be a number of open competitions with the participation of a SCO country. <...> We need to promote our system of alternative competitions on the basis of the new alliances that we are now building

They tried to humiliate, fence off, and cause impediments to our athletes in every possible way, but, in fact, they shot themselves in the foot, because the world of sport without us is inferior. Not to mention the principles and values of sport that have been violated

The Russian Economy: How to Build the Bridge to the Future?
We were in a colonial technological dependency in the global technology distribution chain, and we were buying boxed solutions. Oftentimes our own scientific discoveries formed the basis of technologies that were being sold back to us at high prices. [...] We got hooked on technology, and [at present – Ed.] transitioning to our own technology is a painful process

Russian World-Class IT-Solutions: Our Response to Global Challenges
We do a lot of work with the Ministry of Finance to identify industry leaders in the import substitution of specific software solutions, and identify competence centres capable of substituting by type of software, and the result is a multidimensional matrix. But the most important principle we abide by is that there must be at least a few, definitely more than two, competing solutions in each area of focus, otherwise there will be no development because competition is a very important factor in development

Russian World-Class IT-Solutions: Our Response to Global Challenges
You (Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation Maksut Shadayev – Ed.) have predicted that by the end of the year 35,000 companies will be registered in the register of Russian IT companies, while we have only 14,000 products in the register of domestic software, which is half as many as the IT companies. And at the same time, these 14,000 products are made by 4,000 suppliers in total. That is, everyone is rushing there for the incentives, and there are deferrals from the army and everything else, but to say that they are making products that will flood the market, well, it really hasn’t come to pass

Russian World-Class IT-Solutions: Our Response to Global Challenges
Thirteen areas of focus (manufacturing, public administration, healthcare, education, science, ecology and environmental management, agriculture, social services, construction, transport, the fuel and energy complex, urban housing utilities, financial services – Ed.) help us cover all of the areas in full. This is basically the environment our IT industry has to work in, and it is a huge place to work, because on average, functional import substitution, that is, where systems have replaced a hundred percent of what needs to be replaced, has only happened in about a third of all solutions. In other words, 70% of the market is still waiting for us. Obviously, our domestic market is insufficient in itself to recoup direct investments in development, so on the one hand, we will support this financially, development and implementation, and on the other hand, we certainly expect very strong exports to foreign markets

Russian World-Class IT-Solutions: Our Response to Global Challenges
We will have 35,000 companies accredited by the end of the year, Russian companies on our list, in the register. They’re not just coming for the incentives, and the number of incentives is totally unprecedented, from interest rate subsidies for turnover and, of course, everyone’s favorite benefit – deferment from the army – which we have, well, and, of course, various tax breaks. But we understand that the conditions for running an IT business in Russia are much more favorable than anywhere else in the world, and we generally expect the industry to mobilize now and react quickly. It is beginning to do so already, but probably not at the pace we would all like, where we wave the magic wand and there are substitutions for everything. There is good news that a huge niche has opened up, opportunities for our IT specialists to occupy this niche, but you have to understand that the window of opportunity is rather small
