The Roscongress Foundation – a socially oriented non-financial development institution and a major organizer of international conventions; exhibitions; and sporting, public, and cultural events.

The Foundation was established in 2007 with the aim of facilitating the development of Russia’s economic potential, promoting its national interests, and strengthening the country’s image. One of the roles of the Foundation is to comprehensively evaluate, analyse, and cover issues on the Russian and global economic agendas. It also offers administrative services, provides promotional support for business projects and attracting investment, and helps foster social entrepreneurship and charitable initiatives.

Each year, the Foundation’s events draw participants from 208 countries and territories, with more than 15,000 media representatives working on-site at Roscongress’ various venues. The Foundation benefits from analytical and professional expertise provided by 5000 people working in Russia and abroad. In addition, it works in close cooperation with 126 economic partners; industrialists’ and entrepreneurs’ unions; and financial, trade, and business associations from 69 countries worldwide.

Biography

Born 31 December 1956 in Vyshny Volochek, Tver Region.

Graduated from the Kalinin Suvorov Military School in 1974, the Pushkin Higher Command School of Air Defence Radio Electronics in 1978, and Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1985.

PhD in engineering.

1978−1998: served as an officer in the Soviet Armed Forces and the Russian Armed Forces.

1998−2004: Director General of the Modul Research and Technical Centre.

2004−2008: head of the radio electronics industry and control system department at the Federal Agency for Industries, and later deputy head of the agency.

July 2008 − March 2011: served as Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

March 2011: appointed First Deputy Chairman of the Military Industrial Commission of the Government of the Russian Federation.

15 November 2012: appointed Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation by Presidential Executive Order.

May 18, 2018: appointed Deputy Prime Minister of Russia by a presidential decree.

Awarded the Order for Services to the Fatherland, 4th Class, the Order of Honour, the Order for Service to the Motherland in the USSR Armed Forces, 3rd Class, and several other medals.

Recipient of the Marshal Georgy Zhukov State Award.
