Aviation Accessibility of the Far East in Times of Global Turbulence
The main thing for the Baikal, which is set to be a world-leading aircraft, is that we make a complete rescue system. A passenger flying on a regional route – be they Russian citizens or visitors – must have the same access to safety as passengers on medium-haul flights

Aviation Accessibility of the Far East in Times of Global Turbulence
Since 2017, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has essentially implemented two strategies as requested by the regions and the Ministry of Transport. <...> For the first time, we are following Soviet-era standards, whereby R&D is assigned before any type of aviation equipment is built. This is broad-based research as well, and absolutely crucial. <...> As of this year, work is under way on implementing a directive to create an advanced after-sales service for the regional aviation sector. The regional aviation sector is exactly where there needs to be innovation. <...> When we develop airfields, we must simultaneously create a fundamentally new airworthiness maintenance system which is again built upon the very latest scientific accomplishments

Forestry: From Raw Material to End Product
All interested parties need to work out a single clear, open, and transparent scheme for receiving forest resources in return for investments <...> The old rules need to be changed in time. We need to open up investments now, and primarily for the Far Eastern District

Forestry: From Raw Material to End Product
Of course, the situation of the development of priority investment projects is very important to us, but we would like to see the development of projects in the Far East that would utilize local wood. This is the biggest problem: the quality of the wood is fundamentally different. Cutting everything would still be inefficient

Forestry: From Raw Material to End Product
Markets are reorienting to the East in a natural way – economically and logistically. Far Eastern companies and Far East investment plans are getting into a better investment shape. In short, it is profitable to invest in the Far East. And this is the most important thing for investors who are willing to do so <...> and existing forest leasees to find common ground, rather than warring with each other

The Future of Industries: What to Buy and What to Produce? Aviation
Basically, we are going to back to restoring the cooperation ties of the Soviet Union, because all the plants still exist. We do realize that we can build new cooperation in areas where we have technological sovereignty in knowledge, design documentation, and standards. It will be efficient for us. <…> We have foreign systems fully developed and supplied, but we are not able to service them on our own. We do not have parts. We do not know or have mathematical models that drive those systems. We do not know material standards and do not understand their durability history. We just do not have this information

Russia’s Forest at a Crossroads: What’s Next?
As for our support measures, you all know that we are actively developing the Industrial Development Fund. I think that this is the most honest and fair instrument to access medium and long-term financial resources at reduced rates

Russia’s Forest at a Crossroads: What’s Next?
Indeed, this is where the state’s role should be [...] Let’s understand to what extent business cannot provide investments, and the state should support it. Obviously, this includes warehouses and transhipment assembly points

Russia’s Forest at a Crossroads: What’s Next?
We aren’t seeing a reduction in the labour force or a massive layoff. I wouldn’t make a tragedy out of this

Russia’s Forest at a Crossroads: What’s Next?
It would be impossible to say unequivocally that the expectations about the threat of a ban on the export of round timber has not affected the current investment processes. Everyone knows how to count money, and everyone adapts

Russia’s Forest at a Crossroads: What’s Next?
Indeed, over three years we completed a kind of first stage, when timber was handed over in exchange for investment, and now it is already possible to calculate economically what this led to [...] I think in the East this led to a sharp imbalance because not all the forest has been leased [...] while the forest that has been leased is also not all being used, and it’s clear that, having secured the annual allowable cutting rate, entrepreneurs are forced to choose parts and build roads in parts. These are always short-term solutions based on under market volatility

The Ministry of Industry provided the government with a list of devices. <…> Step by step, we are going to create preference for procurement of these products by large holdings and state corporations. <…> It is paramount that products developed by French-Russian partnerships made it to this list

The question is how do you set up dialogue between medium-sized companies, since modern innovations these days come from those, or even from start-ups. <…> How do you build a platform where mid-sized companies and start-ups could interact with major players and get access to technologies

Shaping the Industry of the Future. Digital Technology in Manufacturing
Here is the main principle: we truly believe that the industry – the digital industry is a combination of private information systems. The government must retain only the terms, standards and support, and not intervene otherwise
