Born on August 9, 1966 in Moscow. Graduated from the Chemistry Faculty of the Moscow State University in 1988, Ph.D in Chemistry, entrepreneur since 1991. Business interests of Grigory Berezkin range from oil and energy sector to media and venture investments.
Major assets owned by Grigory Berezkin are RBC Holding (Russian leading media holding) METRO newspaper (a franchisee of METRO International), energy trading company RES (JV with Italian energy holding ENEL), oil-loading terminals Uyar and Skovorodino, Jolla and Open Mobile Platform (companies developing independent mobile operating system Sailfish).
Grigory Berezkin has vast experience as member of the boards of directors in major Russian companies: RAO UES of Russia, Electric energy monopoly; the First Freight Company, railway freight carrier; SG-Trans liquefied hydrocarbons transportation company; the Russian Railways. In 2015 Grigory Berezkin was named Russia’s best Independent Director by Russian Association of Independent Directors.
Grigory Berezkin is also an active public figure. Since 2008 Grigory Berezkin has been a member of the Bureau of the Board of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and chairs the Commission on Electrical Energy and the Committee on Corporate Governance.
Grigory Berezkin is a member of the Board of Trustees of Moscow State University. He has supported the University for many years, especially the Chemistry Faculty, both in the organization of international educational projects and in scientific research work in various areas, including molecular biology and bioorganic chemistry.
