Born July 10, 1947 in Angren, near Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Higher education: graduated from the Tashkent Electrotechnical Institute of Communications in 1975.
He started work in 1965. Until 1969 he worked in several technical and engineering positions at companies in the cities of Andijan and Tashkent.
1969 1977: Senior Engineer and Deputy Director of the Computing Centre of the Hydrometeorological Service of the Uzbek SSR.
1973 1974: military service in the Armed Forces of the USSR.
1977 1980: Chief Engineer of the Central Asian Regional Hydrometeorological Research Institute of the USSR State Committee for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Control.
1980 1992: Deputy Head of the Uzbek Republic Hydrometeorological Directorate of the USSR State Committee for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Control.
1992 1993: First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Russia.
1993 2009: Head of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring.
2003: Elected to a four-year term as President of the World Meteorological Organization (re-elected in 2007).
2009 2018: Adviser to the President of Russia.
Mr Bedritsky is Married and has Three Sons.
Awarded the Order for Services to the Fatherland IV Degree, the Order of Courage, and Other Medals.
