Council of Arctic Shipping Participants along the Northern Sea Route
In order to guarantee cargo delivery in the Arctic, it is critical to choose the optimal route that takes into account both the current and the forecasted ice conditions. To do this, we will need satellite images from domestic remote-sensing satellites. At the moment only foreign images from open sources are available in radar range. Such images are not enough, they very rarely cover the most difficult areas of the NSR. A constellation of Russian remote-sensing satellites operating in optical infrared and radar bands is required, providing the necessary resolution of images

The Northern Sea Route: An International Transport Corridor
The difficult Arctic ice conditions, with which we have coped […] quite effectively: […] a unique fleet has already been created, […] [gas carriers – Ed.], which arrive at the port of Sabetta every day of the year. Yamal LNG today owns a unique fleet of gas carriers that virtually no one else in the world possesses. […] The task is – to develop the eastern sector of the Arctic, while year-round use of the western sector is already established. […] From the beginning of the year, together with shipowners, we completed, for the first time, introducing a constant monitoring system for vessel and vessel mechanism operation indicators, and this system enables us to collect, accumulate and visualise the primary data reaching us online from ships, and to exercise real time control over ship operation. As per the users’ settings, the system itself analyses the data as they come in, identifies divergencies and signals the operator, which, under the operating conditions along the Northern Sae Route, makes cargo delivery to buyers materially more reliable

The Northern Sea Route: An International Transport Corridor
We cannot do without the Northern Sea Route, without reliable routes in the north, and there will be ice-breakers. The key question is about localisation. […] Will another shipbuilding centre be established”, Alexey Rakhmanov, Chairman of the Board, CEO, United Shipbuilding Corporation.

“The shipping rates since the project was launched have been truly impressive: in 2018, the Northern Sea Route project – 9.1 million tonnes of cargo, 2019 – 19.6 million tonnes, the same in 2020 and in 2021 – 20.4 million tonnes. Yamal LNG is an integrated project for extraction, liquefication, transportation and sales but the project enjoys enormous advantages over other northern projects: the plant and port are located on the shore of the Northern Sea Route, allowing the project direct access by sea to the market of Europe and Asia

Extended Session of the NSR Public Council. Big Northern Sea Route: New Global Traffic Lane
We expect approximately 21–22 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas to be transported eastward to the markets of Southeast Asia. And to ensure this transportation and its stability and to create a market, the decision was taken to create a port in Kamchatka for the transhipment of liquefied natural gas

Extended Session of the NSR Public Council. Big Northern Sea Route: New Global Traffic Lane
Initially, we will need up to two thousand sailors to work on high-tech ships and gas carriers to work in the harsh conditions of the Arctic on the Northern Sea Route. And there will have to be highly qualified teachers and a qualified educational base created by the state to train them

Arctic Economic Council Meeting
We have determined our priorities for Russia’s chairmanship in the Arctic Economic Council. First of all, it is developing maritime navigation in the Arctic… Development of maritime transportation unites many players – ROSATOM, the United Shipbuilding Corporation, and international participants, who are vessel owners and provide services to mineral extraction operations… This is why when it comes to maritime navigation, coordination, improvements and application of most cutting-edge technical achievements need to be on a highest level

Arctic Shelf Development: The Potential and the Risks
In order for major industrial projects to be successful, the state programme for marine seismic surveying on the Arctic shelf needs to be approved. The law to introduce a multiplication factor to tax deductions for prospecting in the Arctic needs to be adopted as quickly as possible. Without state funding for full-scale field studies in the Arctic, it will be difficult to get by

Arctic Shelf Development: The Potential and the Risks
In addition to the standard issues related to working in the Arctic, such as a short season, fragile environment, and a lack of infrastructure, there are also other problems stemming from industry sanctions imposed by the USA and European Union.
These sanctions have made it absolutely imperative to localize production of seismic equipment
