We are currently in dialogue with the international sporting committee and other sports organizations. <…> A substantial amount has already been invested in all the infrastructure needed to host the World Cup. And that is why we are already focusing on the kind of friendly social environment that is needed to host the Olympic Games. And we see that our region stands to gain a great deal from these major events,

Qatar is ready – we are ready to host the World Cup. And while we may not yet be completely sure of what the situation will be with regards vaccination and so on <…> everything is being planned, and we hope that the people who come will be vaccinated and take PCR tests. West Asia and North Africa: Steps Towards Stability and Prosperity
If we speak about the GCC – the Gulf Cooperation Council – then I think that the six countries could complement one another and ultimately help stabilize the region. Let’s look at our region. The Gulf Cooperation Council and its six members are a stabilizing factor in the region for the long term. <…> We [Qatar, Ed.] can play the role of a trustworthy leader. We can facilitate peace, prosperity, and security. Our country can act as a mediator in solving carious conflicts. And what’s more, we have already demonstrated that we can be successful in our role,

I cannot say that we have no tourists at all. <…> Of course, the whole sector [tourism, Ed.] <…> has suffered greatly. But I think that everything should have recovered in a year to 18 months or so,

One could say that according to some media outlets, the situation is improving. We are continuing to see a prevailing narrative. It claims that the conflict is limited to a small group of Palestinians and Israelis. The reality is completely different. It is a conflict between the Palestinians – who live in occupied territory and have no state – and another state which has a military,

We primarily refer to the nuclear programme as a subject which worries us. The Emir has referred to this issue on several occasions, and we have continued to call for initial talks between Iran and the Gulf Cooperation Council. <…> Iran needs to stop enriching uranium – this is key to reaching an agreement in the region. The fact that Iran still has uranium enrichment facilities is something which is affecting the security situation across the globe, not only in the region,

All of this is with the aim of ensuring stability in the region. <…> After all, all conflicts must be resolved through diplomacy,

Yes, there has been a split in the GCC over the past four years. It is clear that we did not participate in this collaborative platform, and now we need to work to ensure that this organization does not collapse. We also need to ensure that all neighbouring countries engage in a spirit of cooperation. <…> Everything that has happened has of course left a scar on the Gulf Cooperation Council. But this is the time to repair the wounds. We are feeling positive, we are looking to the future, we want to enter into friendly relations with all countries, and build them further. And this applies to the council, too. This is more important than any division that may exist between us,
