Daniyar Akishev was born, on May 25, 1976 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
In 1996, he graduated with honours in Economics from the Kazakh State Academy of Management, specializing in banking management.
He began his career in 1995 as a Lead Economist at the Central Asian Stock Exchange.
From November 1996 to August 2007, Akishev worked in various positions at the Research and Statistics Department of the National Bank of Kazakhstan. From June 2003 to August 2007, he held the post of Director of the Research and Statistics Department.
In August 2007, by Order of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akishev was appointed Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
From August 2014 to August 2015, he served as Head of the Social and Economic Monitoring Department of the President Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From August to November 2015, he held the position of Acting Assistant to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On November 2, 2015, by Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akishev was appointed Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
