The Development of Infrastructure in the Far North
8 April 2019

The government’s transport infrastructure development policy for the Arctic aims in part to provide full road and rail support for ports and the Northern Sea Route. A road and railway network is currently being constructed in the polar regions. The most important projects under way include Belkomur, the Bovanenkovo—Sabetta Railway, the Northern Latitudinal Railway, and the construction of facilities for the Tommot—Yakutsk Railway. In order to ensure economic and food security for remote regions, it is also crucial to provide inland shipping in the Arctic.
