Councils of Young Scientists of the Far East: The Scale of Regional and Federal Communication
4 September 2021

In order to implement the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation, the National Projects of the Russian Federation, the National Programme for the Development of the Far East, and the Year of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation, Russia’s science and education policy has allocated a significant role to supporting young scientists. The Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education plans to provide grant support for Student Scientific Societies and Councils of Young Scientists on a competitive basis. A key priority of the Coordination Council for Youth Affairs in the Sphere of Science and Education, which is part of the Presidential Council for Science and Education, is the interaction between student scientific societies and organizations, municipalities, constituent entities, and federal districts, as well as with authorities at various levels. Limitations caused by the remoteness of the Far East region from the central part of Russia and the level of transport accessibility between science and education centres in the Far Eastern Federal District have been further exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the current situation, the well-established interaction of the Councils of Young Scientists of the Far East becomes more relevant than ever before and requires an engaged dialogue of all participants.
