The 2nd Conference-Dialogue of Young Diplomats from the Asia-Pacific Region was held on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum on 56 September at the initiative of the Council of Young Diplomats of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia with the support of the Roscongress Foundation. The delegates included representatives from China, the Philippines, Laos, Nicaragua, and Mongolia.
Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs official spokesperson Maria Zakharova took part in the Council of Young Diplomats event. Productive Q&A meetings were held with Deputy Minister for Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic Alexander Krutikov, Acting Vice Governor of Primorye Territory Konstantin Bogdanenko, Far East Investment and Export Agency First Deputy General Director Andrey Donets, Far East Federal University Deputy Vice President for Academic Affairs Elena Kharisova, Strategy for the Future Foundation President Stanislav Neverov, and Roscongress Foundation Assistant to Youth Policy Director Roman Chukov. The guests presented programmes for the comprehensive development of the region as one of the most rapidly developing and innovative centres of the country and noted some fundamental changes that have taken place. Chief Executive of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina spoke about the investment potential of the Republic of Tatarstan.
During the closing session, young foreign policymakers from the Asia-Pacific region presented their reports, agreed on the final declaration of the Second Dialogue Conference, and once again supported the importance and viability of the concept of «horizontal diplomacy». The document reflects a common vision on key issues concerning the development of the region.
In addition, a joint dinner was organized for young diplomats with 25 young leaders and entrepreneurs from the international youth pool of the Roscongress Friends for Leadership Foundation. The participants discussed specific projects being implemented by the communitys members and ways to promote projects through public diplomacy.
