Today, 5 October, marks the start of the FINOPOLIS Forum of Innovative Financial Technologies, organized by the Bank of Russia. The annual FINOPOLIS Forum brings together government officials, representatives from the financial and IT sectors, and the expert community to discuss the role of digital technologies in the financial markets, to present new products and solutions, and to discuss global trends in financial technology.
Keynote speakers at FINOPOLIS 2017 include: Elvira Nabiullina, Governor of the Bank of Russia; Brett King, futurist, author of multiple books on the banking sector, and CEO and founder of Moven; David Birch, Director of Innovation at Consult Hyperion; and the directors of the largest Russian and international finance and IT companies.
“FINOPOLIS has already been held twice in the Republic of Tatarstan, where the event was very well organized. We have noticed, however, that there is strong interest in the Forum at the national as well as the regional level. For that reason, we felt that it was important to broaden the Forum’s geographical scope and hold FINOPOLIS 2017 at a new venue – the Main Media Centre in Sochi. This allows us to provide participants, partners and speakers with more opportunities to help them make the most of the Forum, and we have also been able to expand the events programme. For example, we have established the Youth Day FinTech programme and successfully organized the annual FinTech Startups Competition”, explains Olga Skorobogatova, First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia.
The aims of FINOPOLIS are to host a comprehensive discussion of current global trends in optimizing cooperation between mega-regulators, government offices, and other financial market participants; to widen access to financial services and instruments; to present the newest domestic and foreign products and infrastructure solutions for the digitization of financial markets; and to support the automation of all aspects of operations in today’s financial institutions.
