Regions of the Far East are implementing projects of the Powerful Ideas for a New Era Forum

During the Eastern Economic Forum 2022, with the assistance of the Far Eastern Federal District office of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI), a series of meetings with heads of regional governments and ministries were held for the project leaders of the Powerful Ideas for a New Era Forum, which is organized by the Roscongress Foundation and ASI. As a result, they came to several agreements on the implementation of projects on the territory of these regions.

«The main task of the Powerful Ideas for a New Era Forum is to help implement ideas submitted through the ASI partner network. That includes federal and regional authorities, development institutes, commercial companies, and non-profit organizations. At EEF 2022, the Forum project leaders were able to interest regional teams with their solutions in the environmental, tourism, technological and social sectors. All of them are capable of making a significant contribution to the development of the territories,» said Olga Kurilova, Director of Representative Office, Agency for Strategic Initiatives in the Far Eastern Federal District.

The project in Kamchatka to create a digital service, Digital Clinic, which uses telemedicine technology, has attracted the interest of all the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District. According to project leader Roman Chekulaev, there are now active discussions with the other regions about the possibility of scaling up the solution. The team of the ROBBO project, a nationwide sovereign platform for teaching modern educational robotics to young innovators, makers and entrepreneurs based on open source hardware and free open source code, has signed a cooperation agreement with the Sakhalin Region government. The region will become another site for the educational project.

The team of the Power of the Wind, a Sakhalin project aimed at developing sailing tourism and sport, held meetings and signed an agreement with UMATEX (part of Rosatom State Corporation) to start production of sailing catamarans in Sakhalin, and also began discussions on setting up children’s sailing schools.

«At EEF 2022, we had constructive meetings with the governments of the Kamchatka and Primorye Territories, discussing support for the creation of children’s sailing schools and yacht production in Primorye, as well as new infrastructure. In addition, we organized several meetings with the Far East Development Corporation and discussed options for supporting the project. We decided to join a private investor in a project to build hotels on Lake Baikal on the Buryatian side,» said Maksim Pinigin, the author of the project.

German Yangalin, the leader of the Moscow-based engineering and innovation ecosystem Impact Engineering, has agreed to cooperate with Magadan Region, as well as the Kamchatka and Transbaikal Territories, where specialized engineering classes will be created. Experienced mentors will be involved in the training programmes. According to the project’s author, the Amur Region is also interested in opening such classes for servicing LNG and the Vostochny Cosmodrome. Interest has also come from Sakhalin Region, Khabarovsk Territory, the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) and the Jewish Autonomous Region.

Another finalist project of the Forum, Russian Longevity A Course to Wellness, which is aimed at improving the quality of life and increasing the life expectancy of elderly citizens through the inclusion of psychologists, nutritionists, fitness instructors and other specialists, has generated interest in the Amur, Magadan Regions, and Primorsye Territory. A cooperation agreement has been signed with these regions.

«Our decision is fully in line with the goals and objectives of the Demography national project and the Active Longevity federal project. Its implementation in the regions will make it possible to improve the health of the elderly and will help them maintain a decent standard of living and enable them to take an active part in society. At the EEF, we signed an agreement with three regions, and we plan to sign five more. Preliminary agreements have been reached with the Vologda Region, the Kamchatka and Khabarovsk Territories, the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) and Buryatia,» explained project author Daria Vyazmikina.

According to Marina Agadzhanyants, leader of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District Climate Adaptation project, the team has held talks with all representatives of the Far Eastern regions.

«None of the regions, except the Sakhalin Region, have started a climate risk analysis. This must be carried out in each region independently and based on the results of scientific research. Teams from the Amur Region, Sakhalin Region, Kamchatka and Primoye Territories, Chukotka Autonomous District, the republics of Buryatia and Sakha (Yakutia) have expressed interest in conducting predictive analysis of climate risks and developing adaptation measures,» explained Marina Agadzhanyants.
