With the support of the Roscongress Foundation, Moscow hosted a meeting of Indias leading CEOs with Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov, Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic Alexander Kozlov, and Minister of Moscow Government, Head of the Department of Foreign Economic and International Relations Sergey Cheremin.
The Indian business delegation was led by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) President Rakesh Bharti Mittal and CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee. The delegation included the heads of major Indian industrial companies such as SREI Group, SUN Group, Tata Power Ltd and Tech Mahindra Ltd.
Meeting participants discussed the content of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) and Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) business programmes, including the potential for joint sessions and roundtables and the participation of Indias leading companies.
Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov proposed organizing Russia India business dialogues as part of all major business events organized by the Roscongress Foundation and invited Indian companies to become partners of these forums. He also supported the CII initiative to hold an I Love Russia Forum and Exhibition in Mumbai in 2019.
«By participating in business events organized by the Roscongress Foundation, Indian companies will be able to discover the opportunities and new areas of growth for doing business in Russia. We must overcome existing barriers to business by taking practical steps and we are ready to promote Indian companies in Russia», said Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov.
As a reminder, during a phone conversation in January 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin invited the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the Eastern Economic Forum as the forums main guest. The forum will be held on 46 September in Vladivostok. In addition to holding a traditional Russia India business dialogue at EEF, the parties also agreed to arrange a meeting between the Indian delegation and the governors of Far Eastern regions. «In this region, we hope to find opportunities for cooperation in sectors such as wood processing, diamond mining, pharmaceutical, hotel, healthcare and energy industries», said CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee. The meeting also discussed the possibility of organizing an EEF field session in Mumbai in June 2019 to promote the forum in India.
In addition to cooperation during SPIEF and EEF, the parties also discussed holding joint business events at the Russian and Indian official residences at the World Economic Forum in Davos, which, symbolically, are located next to each other.
