Discussions held in Moscow on Russia House business programme at World Economic Forum in Davos in 2018

Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov held a meeting in Moscow with World Economic Forum (WEF) President Børge Brende. The two officials discussed formats for interaction at the WEF and the Roscongress Foundation’s Russian House project as well as specific aspects of the Russian residence’s work in 2018. For the last twenty years, Russia has regularly participated in the events of the Davos Forum and Mr. Brende welcomes Russia’s broad participation in January 2018 since he expects that “Russia’s voice will be loud” and representatives of the Russian delegation will be able to take part in the discussion of contemporary global challenges at the forum. He also expressed interest in continuing and developing long-term partnership relations with Russia, including in the interaction and development of cooperation as part of the Roscongress Foundation’s Russia House not only at the annual forum in Davos, but also in other countries where Davos forum events are held. The Russia House project is a platform for the promotion of Russian initiatives among representatives of international business and official circles who meet in Davos, Switzerland during the World Economic Forum (22–26 January 2018). The Russia House was granted the status of the official Russian residence following the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Roscongress Foundation and the World Economic Forum International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2017. “An extensive business programme has been developed for visitors and guests of the Russia House and a space has been organized for business meetings and negotiations”, Kobyakov said in comments on the functional details of the Russia House in Davos in 2018. “Plans include panel discussions on energy, industrial production, information technologies, a roundtable on Russian-American relations, business breakfast on issues concerning Eurasian integration, a session of the Foreign Investment Advisory Council, and a presentation of a special event dedicated to the 2018 World Cup”. Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Kobyakov stressed that the Russia House and the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum are “territories of trust” and platforms for an open dialogue on the development of the global economy and international integration in various areas. The architecture of the Russia House business programme is available on the event’s official website: http://houserussia.com/. The format of Russia’s participation in the World Economic Forum continued to be discussed during a meeting between Brende and First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov. The Davos forum team presented the results of the ‘Future of Industry in Russia’ project developed by forum experts. Following the discussion, forum representatives proposed a new, networked format for work that entails close interaction between the Russian Federation and the forum organizing committee, not only during annual meetings in Davos and summer programmes, but on an ongoing basis through the development of specific initiatives. A report on this was posted.
