The Roscongress Foundation is a socially oriented non-financial development institution and a major organizer of international conventions; exhibitions; and business, public, sporting, and cultural events. It was established in pursuance of a decision by the President of the Russian Federation.

The Foundation was established in 2007 with the aim of facilitating the development of Russia’s economic potential, promoting its national interests, and strengthening the country’s image. One of the roles of the Foundation is to comprehensively evaluate, analyse, and cover issues on the Russian and global economic agendas. It also offers administrative services, provides promotional support for business projects and attracting investment, and helps foster social entrepreneurship and charitable initiatives.

Each year, the Foundation’s events draw participants from 208 countries and territories, with more than 15,000 media representatives working on-site at Roscongress’ various venues. The Foundation benefits from analytical and professional expertise provided by 5000 people working in Russia and abroad. In addition, it works in close cooperation with 160 economic partners; industrialists’ and entrepreneurs’ unions; and financial, trade, and business associations from 75 countries worldwide.

Valentina Matviyenko: Russia is keen to strengthen cooperation with Chile

The Speaker of the Federation Council held a meeting with a Senator of the National Congress of the Republic of Chile.

 

The Speaker of the Federation Council, Valentina Matviyenko, and the Senator of the National Congress of the Republic of Chile, Ximena Cecilia Rincón, have met to discuss inter-parliamentary ties between the two countries and opportunities for further collaboration on the margins of the Third Eurasian Women’s Forum.

The Speaker of the Federation Council noted that Russia is keen to strengthen its cooperation with Chile on all fronts. She underscored that dialogue between Russian and Chilean parliamentarians has traditionally been productive and noted that there is scope to enhance cooperation. Valentina Matviyenko highlighted the interest in strengthening cooperation with Chilean legislators, including through friendship groups of Russian and Chilean parliamentarians. She suggested the creation of a road map for the coming years, which would outline specific events and “give impetus to collaboration between the two countries”.

In addition, the Speaker of the Federation Council noted the active dialogue between Russia and Chile through the Eurasian Economic Commission, expressing her country’s “hope that such intensive efforts will continue”.

The meeting also touched on issues such as ensuring bilateral economic and cultural collaboration, working together to combat coronavirus and facilitating exchanges between higher education institutions in the two countries.

Ximena Cecilia Rincón Gonzalez noted the importance of strengthening and developing Chile–Russia relations, both in a parliamentary setting as well as in the economic, technological and cultural spheres.

Grigory Karasin, Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, also participated in the event.
