Bilateral cooperation in the context of Eurasian integration was discussed as part of the business programme of the sixth Russian-Kyrgyz interregional conference held at the Ala-Archa state residence in Bishkek on 15 December 2017.
“Continued cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia’s regions will have a powerful multiplier effect”, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Arkady Dvorkovich said at the plenary session. “Not all issues may be resolved in Moscow or Bishkek. Of course, the framework is set here but horizontal ties – at the levels of our regions, companies and universities – are also required to achieve closer cooperation. This format – that of an interregional conference – is highly convenient for our two nations and will help us develop our relations further”. Arkady Dvorkovich invited representatives of Kyrgyzstan to take part in the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi in February 2018.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Tolkunbek Abdygulov also spoke at the session entitled “Eurasian Integration as a Basis for Development of Russian-Kyrgyz Foreign Economic Ties”: “The potential of our relations is much wider and deeper than has been realized. The governments of both our nations will do their best for the relations between businesses of both countries, in particular between businesses in our regions, to develop in a productive manner. Too many spheres have been left out of our cooperation and we have our joint work cut out for us”.
The Conference’s business programme included roundtables on improving interregional cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan in the areas of development of trade and economic ties, agriculture, transport and logistics, as well as the digital economy.
There were more than 450 participants in the Conference. Guests included: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Kyrgyz Republic Andrey Krutko, Minister of Economics of the Kyrgyz Republic Artyom Novikov, Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Foundation Sergei Storchak, Vice Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation Rashid Ismailov, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Kirill Molodtsov, Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Boris Dubrovsky, Governor of the Issyk-Kul Region Uzarbek Zhylkybayev, and X5 Retail Group GR Director Stanislav Naumov.
As usual, the Ministry for Economic Development of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Economics of the Kyrgyz Republic co-organized the Conference. The Roscongress Foundation, organizer of major congress and exhibition events, is the Conference operator.
