Сессия «Миссия выполнима: ответы науки на глобальные энергетические вызовы» пройдет на форуме РЭН-2019

On 4 October, the panel session titled ‘Mission Possible: Scientific Response to Universal Energy Challenges’ will be held as part of the Russian Energy Week International Forum. Experts and winners of the Global Energy Prize from 6 countries will identify key technologies that can provide answers to global energy challenges and scenarios for achieving sustainable energy development and highlight the role of science in the process. The session was organized by the Global Energy Development Association for International Energy Research and Projects.

According to experts, humanity is on the verge of entering a new technological cycle. The scale of the changes and the complexity of implementing the solutions of the new industrial revolution differ from all previous global transformations. The world community is observing the trends of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and suffering from the consequences of the Third. In an era of transition to a new technological cycle, access to reliable and secure energy is paramount. Modern countries are forced to find solutions to global energy challenges by building their energy policies taking into account fast-changing technologies and global climate challenges.

Panel session participants will identify key scientific solutions to achieve a sustainable future of energy and will consider the best innovative technologies aimed at improving energy efficiency, the use of renewable sources energy and ‘clean technologies’. Also, the focus of experts will be on the measures necessary for the comprehensive transformation of the energy sector.

«Today, the world economy is experiencing a very difficult period, which has the most direct impact on the state of the energy sector. Global problems in the energy sector are undermining not only the economic stability of states but are also influencing the environmental sustainability of the planet. It is obvious that a set of measures based on advanced scientific and technological developments is necessary to solve them. I am confident that our session’s experts will be able not only to point out the ‘sore points’ of the global energy landscape, but also identify concrete actions necessary to achieve a sustainable future,» commented the CEO of the сompany Alexander Ignatov on the agenda of the upcoming Global Energy event.

The 2019 Global Energy Prize winners Frede Blobjerg (Denmark) and Khalil Amin (USA) will take part in the panel session. Scientists are developing technologies in the areas related to solving infrastructure problems in the energy industry — energy transfer and storage. The award ceremony will take place on 3 October as part of Russian Energy Week. Also in attendance will be the Winner of the 2012 Global Energy Prize, IPCC member and Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2007, Rodney John Allam (UK), the Global Energy Prize International Award Committee member; Hungarian Business Leaders Forum (HBLF) Board Member, Sustainability Work Stream Leader Marta Bonifert, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Global Energy Association and Vice-Chairman of the World Energy Council Oleg Budargin (Russia), and Chairman of the International Committee of the Global Energy Prize, Chairman of the High-Level Group of Leaders and Experts on Water and Natural Disasters of the UN Secretary-General and Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2007, Rae Kwon Chung (South Korea).
