SPIEF to Be Attended by Over 1,000 Representatives from China

Moscow hosted a meeting between Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov and Chinese Ambassador to Russia Li Hui. The meeting centred on preparations for President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping’s visit and the Chinese delegation’s participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

«Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June. Last year he participated in the Eastern Economic Forum, and we are delighted that this year he will head our delegation at the SPIEF. I think this is a wonderful example of the special nature of our relationship. We are glad that the Russian side also greatly values the Chinese President’s participation in the Forum and we are ready to work on the future development of relations between Russia and China,» said Li Hui.

The parties discussed the participation of the Chinese delegation at the Russia—China business dialogue, moderated by Victor Vekselberg, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Skolkovo Foundation, and Zhou Liqun, Chairman of the Union of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Russia, as well as at the Second Russian-Chinese Energy Business Forum.

Besides, the meeting discussed the cooperation between the two countries in education and support for small and medium-sized businesses. The Russian party stated that on 7 June at the SPIEF, the Roscongress Foundation and China Media Group plan to sign agreements, as well as continue close collaboration in information exchange between the Roscongress Foundation and the Xinhua News Agency to spread the information about business opportunities for entering the Chinese market with the participation of relevant government agencies, as well as to strengthen partnerships between the business of Russia and China.

«The stable and gradually developing Russian—Chinese strategic partnership is a prime example of modern international relations. By strengthening the business dialogue, creating comfortable conditions for developing investment projects, and exchanging best practices between our countries, including at events such as SPIEF or EEF, we can facilitate the implementation of large-scale joint projects across various economic sectors,» noted Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov.

For their part, the Chinese side proposed hosting presentations by business representatives from Russian regions at their embassy to strengthen ties and search for potential partners in China.
