The #BrighterTogether Youth Day will be held on 5 October 2019 as part of the Russian Energy Week International Forum (2–5 October, Manege Central Exhibition Hall) and will be attended by over 3,000 young professionals, university students, and schoolchildren as well as representatives of government agencies, senior officials from the Russian Ministry of Energy, and leaders of the fuel and energy industry.
Each year, the event is one of the largest specialized communications platforms for energy students and young professionals from companies working in the industry. Roscongress Foundation, the organizer of Russian Energy Week, has noted a high level of interest among talented young people and future energy industry professionals in matters concerning the development of the energy industry in Russia and around the world. According to Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak, Russia is currently a world leader in terms of the production and export of all energy resources, has the largest energy system in the world, and is also actively developing new technologies to produce and convert energy. «It is crucial for young professionals to emerge in the energy sector and to introduce new ideas. Without this, no industry could move forward», he said.
Key events of REW Youth Day will include: the traditional meeting of young people with the Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak and a summary of the All-Russian Energy Conservation Festival #BrighterTogether. This year, the #BrighterTogether Festival has its own symbol — a firefly named TEK-Tik. The idea to make the firefly the symbol of the Festival was presented by schoolchildren as part of a creative competition held with the support of the Russian Ministry of Energy in 2018.
Special attention will be devoted to the youth agenda of the fuel and energy industry — the results of the implementation of the national list of youth activities that aim to promote the fuel and energy sector, energy conservation as well as engineering and technical education for 2019. The list was approved jointly by the Russian Ministry of Energy, the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh).
Other REW Youth Day events will include competitions among the League of Young Professionals of the CASE-IN International Engineering Championship, a presentation of the Youth Forecast of Global Energy Development, and the final of the National Competition of Graduation Theses on Electricity and Electrical Engineering Themes, among other events. The educational programme will be complemented by measures to promote energy efficiency and energy development.
Delegations from universities and energy companies will have an opportunity to take part in interactive sessions on the establishment of youth projects that aim to develop and promote the fuel and energy industry in the Russian Federation.
The REW Youth Day will conclude with the final session ‘Energy and Youth Initiatives 2020’, which will feature a presentation of the best projects and the awarding of winners and runners-up of youth competitions and projects implemented in 2019.
Russian Energy Week is organized by the Russian Ministry of Energy, the Roscongress Foundation, and the Moscow Government. The Reliable Change Foundation runs the REW Youth Day Organizing Committee.
