Russian Convention Bureau to Take Part in 5th Eastern Economic Forum

The Russian Convention Bureau (RCB) will take part in the business programme and events of the fifth Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok on 4–6 September with the support of the Roscongress Foundation.

As part of a programme to promote itself on the international market, the RCB has developed a new product called an Event Passport to present event opportunities that are available in Russia’s regions. The Event Passport is expected to serve as a starting point for attracting international events in leading industries to the Russian regions taking into account the region’s specialization. Work is currently underway to prepare Event Passports for nine regions with which the RCB has signed strategic cooperation agreements.

The regional Event Passports help to systematize and summarize significant information about the region in order to promote it as a venue for business events. The RCB, with the participation of the Government of the Kamchatka Territory and the Investment and Entrepreneurship Agency of the Kamchatka Territory, will hold a presentation at the EEF 2019 of the first Event Passport of the region using Kamchatka as an example (5 September at 12:00, Building A, 6 floor, TASS presentation zone). And on the first day of the Forum an interactive presentation «Caviar Time» based on two blocks of the Event Passport — «Traditions and Customs» and «Gastronomic Map of the Region» — will be held on the site of the pavilion of the Kamchatka Krai on the Street of the Far East.

What is the best way to evaluate the feasibility of building a congress and exhibition complex in the Far East and what criteria should be taken into account? What practical steps should be taken in terms of promotion and sales to utilize the new venue? Could the congress and exhibition complex become a major attraction in the region? How do we evaluate the effectiveness of the new infrastructure for the economy of the Far East and its potential for the development of interregional cooperation? Russian and foreign experts will discuss these and other issues at the session Infrastructure of the Future: Creating New Focal Points in the Far East, which the RCB will hold jointly with the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs as well as with the support of the Roscongress Foundation. The session will take place on 6 September at 10:00, Building B, level 6, Conference Hall No. 7.

The session will be moderated by President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergey Katyrin.

«Global experience has shown that hosting major international events provides a significant economic effect for a regions economy. Many countries systematically contribute to the creation of the appropriate infrastructure as well as special conditions for events on their territory», RCB Director Alexey Kalachev said. «The Far East is one of the most important priorities in the development strategy of the Russian Federation. The availability of modern and properly designed infrastructure in the event industry will increase a regions economic potential as well as its competitiveness and investment appeal at the Russian and international levels. Its the Russian Convention Bureaus job to assist the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District in enhancing their investment appeal through the development of the event industry and business tourism as the strongest catalysts that must be used to promote the region and the country as a whole».

RCB representatives plan to participate as experts and speakers in various events of the EEF business programme, including the sessions Tourist and Recreational Zones of the Far East: Smart Approach for Integrated Territorial Development and Exploring the Far East: New Business Opportunities in Tourism.
