Roscongress Launches Friends of Cities International Project at the Sochi Forum

The Friends of Cities international community has been formally launched at the Russian Investment Forum 2019. The project will seek to share advanced experience in the area of developing sustainable cities with the ultimate aim of facilitating future collaboration.

The move was initiated by Roman Chukov, Assistant to Youth Policy Director of the Roscongress Foundation, and international participants, including Yemi Babington, President of United People Global (Switzerland), Rishabh Sethi, International Director at the BRICS International Forum (India), and Halit Ünver, Research Fellow at the Institute for Applied Knowledge Processing (Germany).

As part of the Forum, the community members took part in the session «Best Practices in Modern Sustainable Cities Development», which examined global experience and specific projects to achieve sustainable urban development and the potential to replicate them in Russian cities. The session was followed by a brainstorm involving the broad educational community and Sochi’s school directors to discuss the skills young people need to advance successfully and ways of teaching such skills. A road map for the projects under discussion will be drawn up to reflect the results of the session.

Among other measures, on-site lectures were read at three Sochi schools, where Roman Chukov and Yemi Babington shared their ideas on the choice of professions and skills needed by young people to build an upward personal growth trajectory in the city of the future.

The international community members also took part in the Roscongress Cup run, supporting the sporting programme of the Russian Investment Forum.
