The Roscongress Foundation is a socially oriented non-financial development institution and a major organizer of international conventions; exhibitions; and business, public, sporting, and cultural events. It was established in pursuance of a decision by the President of the Russian Federation.

The Foundation was established in 2007 with the aim of facilitating the development of Russia’s economic potential, promoting its national interests, and strengthening the country’s image. One of the roles of the Foundation is to comprehensively evaluate, analyse, and cover issues on the Russian and global economic agendas. It also offers administrative services, provides promotional support for business projects and attracting investment, and helps foster social entrepreneurship and charitable initiatives.

Each year, the Foundation’s events draw participants from 208 countries and territories, with more than 15,000 media representatives working on-site at Roscongress’ various venues. The Foundation benefits from analytical and professional expertise provided by 5000 people working in Russia and abroad. In addition, it works in close cooperation with 160 economic partners; industrialists’ and entrepreneurs’ unions; and financial, trade, and business associations from 75 countries worldwide.

Representatives of Russia and Finland Discussed Areas for Business Cooperation

Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of Russian Federation, met Mikko Hautala, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Finland to Russia, in Moscow.

The participants discussed topical issues of Russian—Finnish cooperation. They noted that the countries have developed traditions of economic dialogue on all levels, including the highest one.

During the meeting Anton Kobyakov draw the Finnish delegation’s attention to the importance of boosting trade and economic cooperation with Russia.

«By creating joint ventures and allocating Finnish industrial production to the Russian territory, we will be able to expand joint export to the markets of Southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific Region,» Mr. Kobyakov emphasized.

Mikko Hautala in turn noted that Finland is interested in development of trade and economic cooperation and will continue working towards it.

Apart from that, the parties talked about interaction at major international business events in Russia and Finland. They discussed formats of participation in the ‘Arctic: Territory of Dialogue’ International Arctic Forum and St. Petersburg Economic Forum as well as the visit of Russian heads of regions to Finland in 2019, organized by the Roscongress Foundation.

The ambassador suggested the Russia—Finland business dialogue continues at SPIEF 2019; it is traditionally attended by Finnish public officials and heads of major companies and corporations. He also noted that the Finnish delegation is planning to attend the Forum in St. Petersburg.

«SPIEF gained the reputation of a large-scale, respected and globally sought-after platform for free dialogue and open direct discussions between the officials, businessmen, scientists and experts from different countries on relevant issues of world economy and finance. The Forum is a tool to promote our projects,» Mikko Hautala said.

The head of the diplomatic mission also proposed to organize a special session on nature conservational issues at the International Arctic Forum 2019 in Arkhangelsk, where new technologies made it possible to considerably improve the environment. He believes that it is crucial to discuss the expansion of this practice to other Arctic regions. The experts of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University (NArFU) are expected to actively participate in the dialogue.
