“It’s utter rubbish to say our youth is lacking initiative,” Sergey Kiriyenko made a presentation of the project line titled Russia – the Country of Opportunities

A single platform for the line of motivating and developing projects titled Russia – the Country of Opportunities has been showcased on the sidelines of the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi. This title unites 10 separate projects aimed at implementing high-priority state tasks on management elite renewal, human resources transparency, and volunteer movement support.

The platform was created upon the initiative of Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin, who expressed the idea of establishing real social lifts to allow for any talented person to take a place in the society worthy of his or her talents, desires and experience.

Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergey Kiriyenko took part in the presentation emphasizing the unprecedented importance of the event: “Russia – the Country of Opportunities platform is open to any suggestions that can help people of different age. It is crucial to support not only formalized communities, but also any informal groups of young people based on their interest. The objective of the state is to spot talented people as early as possible and create conditions for their further development by funding their education and internships under the guidance of the most experienced state managers who act as supervisors in Leaders of Russia project.”

Sergey Kiriyenko also highly praised the results of the festival events on science and research: “It is remarkable that despite all the concerns, the majority of festival participants actively attended lectures, workshops and discussion sessions. Often the halls were completely full of guests and we even asked some speakers to repeat their presentations, because of the strong interest to many topics and speakers.”

Any active citizen of the Russian Federation can take part in the platform projects. Russia – the Country of Opportunities project line integrates all initiatives aimed at intensive development of human resources and volunteer activity in the country. It should be emphasized, that it is not a one-off event, but a long-term open platform that will collect a large number of projects in future.

Presently, странавозможностей.рф website features competitions, professional Olympiads, charity events, and many other possibilities for active citizens of Russia to fulfil their potential, from school children to successful professionals. These are just some of them: My First Business, Business Navigator for Small and Middle-Size Companies, Russian Movement of School Children – Territory of Self-Government, Be a Manager!, Young Professionals (Worldskills Russia), I Want to Do Good, Thank You, Youth Initiatives Grant Competition, I’m a Professional, Leaders of Russia. Upon completion of the projects the participants will broaden the horizons of their professional development, receive material and non-material motivation for further development of their ideas aimed at improving social climate in our country.

In his speech, Sergey Kiriyenko briefly introduced the first four projects that are already successfully functioning.

Leaders of Russia project was the first to be launched. According to Mr Kiriyenko, it is aimed at “young but fulfilled managers” giving them a chance to be a part of the management reserve and get a grant for education. In the course of only one week, over 120 thousand applications were received.

“Now I won’t listen to anyone, who says our young people are lazy and lacking initiative. It is utter rubbish, in my opinion, and the festival confirms it,” said Sergey Kiriyenko giving а high appraisal of the young people’s initiative and performance.

The second project launched on the sidelines of Russia – the Country of Opportunities platform is called “Upravlyai!” (Be a manager!). It is aimed at students, who have no management experience. The project has a format of competition among youth business teams.

As for the third project, Youth Initiatives Grant Competition, the First Deputy Head of the RF Presidential Administration clarified: “We realized that not everyone would want to do business. Some people are inclined to public service devoting their time to volunteer projects, which is no less honorable than state government.” The competition itself focuses on the development of interreligious communication, support of creative youth, student initiatives, healthy lifestyle and sport.

The fourth project is titled Russian Movement of School Children – Territory of Self-Government. According to Sergey Kiriyenko, “we should support talented kids and help them fulfil their potential starting with the school years.” The project is aimed at determining best practices of school self-government in Russia.

Among the organizers of the projects are the largest state educational institutions and independent public structures including the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, National Research University Higher School of Economics, Rosmolodyozh with Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Russian Movement of School Children, Rybakov Foundation, Kapitani Charity Foundation, etc. supported by the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation.
