The Roscongress Foundation used the Russian video conferencing platform (VCS) Vinteo to connect speakers online as part of the 24-th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) business program. The distinctive feature of the VCS system on the forum was use of a function of simultaneous translations, integrated into the software Vinteo server, for organizing simultaneous interpretation in 12 languages during video conferences.
The remote speakers of the SPIEF business program were able to choose one of the nine available languages on the event, and the sessions were broadcast in Russian and English. Online broadcast of the events were available on the official SPIEF website, the Roscongress Foundation website and the Forums mobile application. Several webcasts were organized on the Vinteo VCS server for Japanese viewers.
Preparations for the Forums hybrid event program took more than two months and included the harmonization of the responsibility of the performers, the harmonization of interfaces with other companies equipment, SPIEF-2021 technical support, branding interfaces. Special attention was paid to the issue of minimizing possible technical problems, typical for conducting video communication sessions (operating on unstable communication channels (Internet) and connecting speakers from closed corporate networks).
In addition to built-in synchronous translation system, the Forum made extensive use of all the main functionality of the Vinteo video conference software server the transmission and recording of meetings, connection of subscribers on WEB-RTC, SIP and H.323 protocols, video terminal connections of various manufacturers, moderating participants by the server administrator and conference moderator, video conference layout constructor etc.
