The G20 Youth Summit (Y20) took place in Tokyo, Japan on 2530 May. The Y20 is an official format for G20 interaction with social partners. The work of delegates led to a document on the three summit topics: International Trade, Business and the Environment, and the Future of Work, which they presented to Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe.
During the closing ceremony of the summit, Assistant to Roscongress Foundation Youth Policy Director and Russian Sherpa for Y20 Roman Chukov presented summit participants with opportunities for further development and implementation of the ideas that had been discussed for global transformations through the efforts of young people through participation in the Friends for Leadership international programme for young leaders and entrepreneurs. This years Friends for Leadership programme of events at SPIEF will be attended by many graduates and leaders of previous Y20 summits from Japan.
«Youth summits have been a tradition since 2006, when Russia held its first G8 summit as part of its G8 chairmanship. In 2013, Russia held a G20 Youth Summit at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on 1821 June during its G20 chairmanship. At that time, President of Russia Vladimir Putin met with the leaders of the youth delegations. We are pleased that 80 young leaders have joined our Friends for Leadership International Youth Pool this year at SPIEF, including those young leaders who participated in the 2013 meeting between the Russian President and the leaders of the G20 youth delegations», Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Roscongress Foundation Alexander Stuglev said.
