November 29, 2016, Moscow Glavkino CEO Vladislav Melnikov and Roscongress Foundation CEO Alexander Stuglev have signed an agreement on their intention to hold an annual international film and television forum at Glavkino’s film and television complex – the largest of its kind in the country. The signing was attended by Vasily Titov, First Deputy President and Chairman of VTB Bank Management Board and Chairman of the Board at Glavkino.
GLAVKINOTELEFORUM will be the only event of its kind in Russia, and will incorporate both the film and television industries. Under the agreement, the organizations also plan to work together to initiate and develop business links and contacts with Russian and overseas entities, and to attract foreign investment in the Russian economy, specifically with a view to implementing film and television projects.
“Hosting a specialized forum together with an organization as highly respected as Roscongress will enable Glavkino to entirely reposition itself in both the professional and cultural arenas. I am delighted that the forum will give us the opportunity to communicate to a wide audience the scope of what our complex has to offer. The event will also help to promote Russian cinema on the global stage,” commented Vasily Titov.
Melnikov added: “Those involved in the film and television industries have collaborated closely for many years, and yet there has never been a single space where they could meet for discussions. This is why, together with Roscongress, we are creating a platform which we hope will contribute significantly to the development of both sectors.” “As a brand new and cutting edge facility for Moscow and the surrounding region, Glavkino should be operating at key professional and international events. This will not only facilitate its own development, but also Russia’s positioning in the international arena,” said Stuglev. “The forum will set a positive trend and give new impetus to the development of the country’s video industry. It will become an important unifying event for representatives of all segments of television and film production, and will bolster the development of the film and TV industry as a whole.”
By his assessment, in its first year the forum could see as many as three to five thousand official delegates. Stuglev also expressed his belief that the forum would draw interest from the international film and television community.
