Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov met UAE Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as part of a working visit to the United Arab Emirates. During their 90-minute conversation, the Minister and the Crown Prince discussed the major areas of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
In particular, the two sides agreed that cooperation between Russia and the United Arab Emirates is continuing along a positive path, and that there is strong potential for trade and economic relations to develop. Taking into account the trends towards an increase in trade volumes which have been seen over the last two years, the Crown Prince and the Minister confirmed their readiness to maintain and further boost growth rates.
One question raised during the course of the meeting related to cooperation in space research and its use for peaceful purposes. In addition, the sides discussed a detailed proposal from network operator NIS GLONASS on cooperation in the use of Russian GLONASS satellite navigation technology to facilitate socioeconomic development in the UAE.
An agreement was also reached to hold the Global Manufacturing and Industrialization Summit in Russia, which is planned to coincide with the International Industrial Trade Fair Innoprom in 2019. Denis Manturov noted that Russia would be the next to host the summit after the UAE, where the event will take place in 2017.
The Minister also invited Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will take place in St. Petersburg on May 24–26, 2018.
