On 1 June 2016, a field session of the Organizing Committee was held for preparing for and holding the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation – Chief of Staff of the Government of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Organizing Committee Sergey Prikhodko.
The discussion at the meeting focused on the business and cultural programmes and preparation of the venue and the city for the Forum. As Sergey Prikhodko noted: “Preparation of the Forum venue is in full swing and is already 80% complete. This time the venue is 2.5 times greater than last year: about 100,000 sq.m., including 66,000 sq.m. of temporary structures, whereas the area covered by SPIEF 2015 was about 43,000 sq.m.”
For media representatives, a special excursion was organized to view the new SPIEF 2016 venue, including visits to exposition pavilions Н, G and F, where installation and construction work is currently under way on the future exhibition areas. “The total number of all categories of participation in SPIEF 2016 will be 15% higher than last year and is now nearing a figure of 10,000, including 2,500 accreditation applications from the media, among them video and photo hosts,” Sergey Prikhodko noted during the press briefing,
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will take place from 16 through 18 June 2016 under the slogan “Capitalizing on the New Global Economic Reality.”
