The Research national project involves creating 15 world-class research and education centers (RECs). One of the main projected results of the work of these centers will be an increase in the number of scholarly articles in international databases. By 2024, RECs and competence centers are to engage at least 250 Russian companies in developing new technologies. Another priority area of the project is professional training. To that end, it is planned to open at least 150 new laboratories of which one-third will be headed by young researchers.
